Dr. Dewey Detar, DO

I was assigned Detar after having a stroke and I have never had a more unfriendly and hostile doctor. He treats me like I'm a hassle, he rejects communication with any social worker or nursing home administrator or social worker I send on my behalf making it very difficult for me and my representatives to get the help and forms we need from him. In 5-6 months I always run out of my meds before refills because he messes them up and accuse me of not taking them right/calling in the wrong ones. I have also never had a dr that will only communicate with you thru his very rude and uptight secretary's. His office is very hostile and dreary atmosphere. He also does not bother to listen to any of my issues or concerns. Local hospital does x rays and say I have broken bones due to a fall. He refuses and says I don't I'm just lazy and not moving. Only to have the nursing home Send me to another Dr for x-rays and in fact I do have them and they have healed back painfully wrong. Please listen to… your patients. Save yourself the hassle and don't make this your dr!

Dr. Detar is the best doctor I have ever seen! He is very kind, listens, and committed to find cause of an illness. I would recommend Dr. Detar to everyone I know!

Oh my he was our family doctor 20 years ago! I will NEVER forget him! When my daughter was in ICU at our local hospital and the doctors could not diagnose her after a accident, Dr. Detar transferred her to the children's hospital! He saved her life! She had a long road to recovery from internal injuries and I do feel had he not done what he did for her she may not be here today! THANK YOU Dr. Detar! We often remember you and miss you dearly in PA!!

I enjoyed going to see Dr. Detar as a Dr. more than any Dr. I've had in my life! I never had to wait very long, he always greeted me with a smile & ask how I was doing. He went over any tests that I might have had recently & listened closely to any of my concerns. He was very concered & called me with any news I might need to know..called me himself, not having a nurse do it for him. He's leaving now & although I understand the reason, I'll miss him so very much. I feel like I've lost a wonderful Dr. but also a good friend! Thank you very much Dr. Detar

Great Diagnostician, Doctors go to him.

I came in with a break out of the skin after waiting 45min in the room the Dr. finally came in. I was very shock but his appearance, and the way he was dressed he looked very sloppy and unclean. I will never do a walk in appointment again if he is in clinic. Very unprofessional!
