Dr Mike was born in Anchorage, Alaska. He grew up in a military family so has lived in many places, some of them outside the US. He is the 3rd of 4 boys in his family. He first met Dr Wayne Tomkinson while a freshmen at Brigham Young University where they became good friends. They went to dental school together at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX, where Dr Mike graduated in 1978. He went on to practice for a few years on the coast of Oregon. In 1982, Carl Tomkinson , Wayne’s father, who had been practicing in Casa Grande since 1953, had retired and Wayne invited Dr Mike to join him in his busy practice. Dr. Mike continues to enjoy dentistry with his staff and the patients he is privileged to work with. He is a member of the ADA, the AzDA, and the LDS Academy of Dentists. He is regularly engaged in continuing education to stay abreast with the many amazing advances in dental treatment.
Dr Mike met his wife, Linda, while at BYU and they were married in 1975 …during his first year at Baylor. 35 years later, they remain best friends and look forward to many more years. Linda grew up in a military family as well and has lived in many places, also including some out of the US. They have one son, Sean, and three daughters, Jenny, Lani, and Lindsay, all of whom were raised here in Casa Grande, graduating from Casa Grande Union High School. Their children have added 8 grandchildren, so far, whom Mike and Linda thoroughly enjoy.
Dr Mike and his family have enjoyed being members of the community, where they have supported many community activities and organizations over the years. Mike and Linda are very active in their Church, having served there in many capacities. Dr Mike also enjoys reading, working in his yard, some art opportunities, exercising, and hiking and other outdoor activities.
