Dr. Daisy Georgette Bassen, MD

Very rude, unsympathetic. At first she seemed helpful, but over time her impatience and frazzled personality came through. Seek other professional help for your child. This woman is a nightmare. My child is much better now that she is not in her care.

I honestly don't believe that Dr. Bassen is a over prescriber. She gets down to business and tells you like it is.

Does not listen and has a "know-it-all" attitude

Dr. Bassen was a pleasure to meet with at first. Very prompt and down-to-business although when things didn't run smoothly enough, Bassen seemed to become overly frazzled with her work. This was a major turn off as Bassen continued on with her unprofessional behavior in the office (i.e. making abrasive statements under pressure and lashing out) The impression I got from my experiences: this psychiatrist is much too accustomed to dealing with your typical cookie-cutter depressed/anxious child or teen who will keep quiet and eagerly go home with a new prescription every three weeks. Clearly I am not the only one who saw the trend in over-prescribing as there is another review on this page stating the same exact thing. I fully understand that prescribing is a big part of a psychiatrist's job, but Bassen goes overboard in this aspect. When a complex case comes in, Bassen is left puzzled and turning to her colleagues for answers. If all else fails, she will most definitely refer… your child to Bradley or another hospital due to the fact that she is simply incapable of dealing with your case. More importantly, Bassen stated that she would not want to lose her license if something were to go wrong under her care - a red flag that told me something about her practice was iffy. My advice: if you are referred to Dr. Bassen and want to see how you like her as a psychiatrist, then go ahead and do so. But I don't recommend following through with the hospitalization and heavy-duty meds that she insists on prescribing. If your child is not broken, then do not insist on trying to fix him or her like Bassen does. Doing so would mean more harm than good. Save yourself the trouble and find someone else who has more expertise.

Over prescriber of drugs

If I could give 0 stars I would. This "doctor" gives zero sympathy and is only in it for the money. She likes to rush the appointments and make her patients go through all sorts of obstacle to get the help they need. This "doctor" has no sympathy for anyone and everything must be on her terms (so she can get more money out of you).

Very caring doctor; worked well with our 17 year old son at Butler. Gave great advice and recommendations for aftercare. Would recommend highly!
