Dr. Dale Joseph Lange, MD

I had osteoarthritis and he misdiagnosed me with ALS. It was a massive error and almost ruined my life. He was certain I had a neurological problem, and worked me up with constant tests for five months to prove himself right. He wouldn’t listen to to all my symptoms which would have explained what I actually had. He rudely interrupted a young female resident on his team when she correctly pointed out what I likely and did have. He is a horrible doctor and miserable human being.

My mother, and my daughter and myself have all been treated by Dr. Lange for Charcot-Marie Tooth for several years. I have always found him to be patient, kind and willing to take his time to answer all our questions. He is willing to think outside the box when suggesting treatment and has referred us to excellent doctors when we required surgery. His staff is also extremely professional and courteous.

His bedside manner is poor. He didn’t really listen to my problems and stopped trying when he couldn’t diagnose me.

Dr. Lange is an exceptional doctor, very knowledgeable in his field of Neurology. He is very thorough and explains the test results so you are able to understand them. He has great bedside manner and is very approachable. I highly recommend him!

Dale Lange is an expert in his field. He conducts research on treatments for ALS. He teaches residents. He has interest in the challenge of each new complex case & attempts to accommodate new consults from around the world quickly. He is generally extremely compassionate, kind, & gentle with a new patient. With established patients, it can be a bit different. Physicians are subject to the same emotions & flaws that laypeople are, especially when fatigued & overworked. If you have a sensitive personality & catch him on the wrong day, it might be tough. He does prefer to remain solely focused on neuromuscular issues rather than general neurology. He values multi-disciplinary care but does have strong opinions of his own. Overall, he has good motives, generally takes his time, & he has chosen to dedicate his life to helping a tough-luck patient population. He is willing to think outside the box, which can be a rare find in today's world of managed care & protocols. At the end of the day,… though, doctors are not God. Some things can't be fixed.Choose wisely.

My wife had a serious cranial nerve problem that was showing signs of possible ALS.We were referred to Dr. Lange as one of the foremost authorities in his field. Dr. Lange not only saw her as soon as he could, he spent hours with her trying to determine what was wrong with her. His bedside manner and compassion were extraordinary and his knowledge of the neuromuscular issue even better. Both me and my wife think he is not only an incredible neurologist, but probably the finest doctor either one of us has ever dealt with. He is a credit to his profession.
