Very uncaring. My husband was in a study for an experimental drug to help with IPF. He saw my husband once, seemed rushed. Only contacted him once while on this drug . He completely ignored information my husband sent him concerning IPF and agent orange. When my husband explained he had considerable side effects from the drug and dosage, he just reordered the exact same dosage! Seems he never read my husband’s concerns regarding the side effects or the information that was sent to him . Very disappointed that he was put in charge of such an important study .

My husband volunteered for an IPF study. Dr. Patel was in charge of the study. He spoke to my husband once in person and one phone call. His nurse was interacting with my husband, and did an excellent job. This was a period of 4 months.Pulmonary fibrosis is a terminal condition with strong connection to agent orange, which he contacted while his service in Vietnam. For a doctor overseeing such an important study with a new experimental drug , there was no attempt to see how he was doing, since my husband had considerable side effects . My husband had to drive 500 miles once a month and did everything to help with this study, only to be seen by Patels nurse. He then sent the doctor information concerning his diagnosis connection with agent orange while serving in Vietnam. My husband only wanted some assistance to obtain compensation from the VA. He was completely ignored.

This doctor first gave me every reason to believe he would help find and solve my problems. Then he became angry and was extremely rude when I asked questions about errors he’d made. He showed zero empathy and in my case, the test he ordered were a waste of time and money.
