Dr. Damon Edmund Mcbrinn, MD

Mark Douglas Smith, MB ChB was born in New Zealand and received his medical and surgical training at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. He then furthered his education in Great Britain and the United States. It was during this time that he showed a clear aptitude for laparoscopic surgery and during his final year of residency developed a passion for bariatric surgery. In his quest to provide safe and high quality surgery, he joined the fellowship program under Dr. Patterson at Oregon Weight Loss Surgery in 2008. In 2009 Dr. Smith joined the team as a full time member of the surgical faculty.
Dr. Smith holds a Masters degree in evidence based medicine and is committed to improving the quality of research that guides decision making in Bariatric surgery. He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals as well as being a sought after guest speaker at various international meetings and courses.
