Dr. Dan L Hancock, MD

I am a healthcare professional. I have suffered with Chronic back pain and bulging disks in my lower spine and neck for several years. Dr. Handcock did administer a steroid series for pain in my lumbar spine and 2 years later for my cervical spine. His treatments worked well for me, and I was able to function as a therapist. He has listened to my concerns and prescribed pain medication to be able to continue to perform my job responsibilities. I have never had an issue with Doctor Handcock's bed side manner, or any feeling of his superiority. As another reviewer stated, he is no-nonsense, which as a therapist I respect. He successfully manages my pain and if needed to I will go back to him. I myself have had a patient that has Dr. Hancock as a pain doctor and he spoke very highly of Dr. Handcock.

Do Not go see this doctor! HE IS RUDE, EGOTISTICAL, and ARROGANT! If I could give zero stars I would! I went for back pain. After talking to him and getting treatment (a shot in my back Which hurt soooo bad) I left there in tears and feeling even more depressed than when I went in. No one wants to go to a doctor that belittles you and even his staff. I have since went to a different pain management doctor and he was so nice and compassionate and his shots hurt but nothing like Hancocks shot!

Do not ever use this doctor. His staff is nice and ftiendly, but he spends very little time with you. I am a smoker and respect his no smoking policy. He will not prescribe you anything if your a smoker. I had cortisone injections for bulging discs in my back. I felt much better. About a month later I Reinjured my back shoveling snow from my driveway. I went back to see Dr. Hancock and this time he said there is nothing he can do for me. I told him I needed a note on order to return to work and he snapped at me said that he never told me to not work. I told him I was in too much pain to go to work and wrote me a 100% work release. I went back to work in pain for two more weeks before quitting. He is a horrible doctor and I would not recommend him to anyone.

Worse experience of my life. Was charged a $25 no show fee. I got very sick and called to let them know I would not come in. Did not want to spread my sickness. Long story short I called the billing office and they waved the fee. Was laying on table for my shot and when he didn't.t see his envelope with cash in it, he tore off his rubber gloves and said "no procedure today"! And he stormed out like a cry baby. Never saw anything like it.

Poor bedside manner. Poor with education/teaching. Tends to talk down to patients and can be irascible/angry at times. Unpredictable mood & behavior is common. As a healthcare professional (registered nurse) and a chronic pain sufferer, I would not recommend Dr Hancock to any of my friends, family, patients, or peers. KC Pain Centers & The Pain Management Institute are reputable, caring professionals in Pain Management.

just started seeing Dr Hancock for about six weeks now,and without him and his staff I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD OF DONE. He has helped me so much with this piriformus syndrome pain down my leg,by the way the most unforgiving pain i've ever had in my life.Dr.Hancock and everyone in pain center are all awesome. can't wait to get the last injection of cortisone.And these low Dr hancock ratings are a bunch of CRAP!!!!

I travel from St. Louis to see Dr. Hancock. I have been a patient of his for 7 years. He has helped me greatly and I would highly recommend him. Yes, he is no nonsense pain specialist, he has to be. If anyone has had a problem with him, they are to blame...not him. If you don't like his smoking policy that is tough, go somewhere else but you will never find another pain specialist as good as he is.

This Dr was so full of himself he did not hear a word I said. After using him for my referral he let me know only after I was there and he could charge my insurance for the visit that he WILL NOT treat smokers!!! I am still in shock. He was rude and let me know every Dr I have ever seen was a idiot.

Absolutely would NOT recommend. Very poor bedside manner, staff is unprofessional and rude. Dr. does not communicate well with his staff or patients. Out of dozens of doctors over the years, rates as one of the weakest for diagnosis and office visits. Certainly seems to enjoy the sound of his own voice but completely unable to open his ears. Definitely would not recommend for female patients as he seems to show no respect unless my husband is with me at appt.
