Dr. Dan Michael Hopla, MD

First of all, I saw Dr Hopla when I was a teenager, I was diagnosed with a hole in my ear drum and he told me that I had lost hearing in my ear, I even had a hearing test done with the school district who verified that I had lost 30% of my hearing in my right ear. Fast forward 17 years later. I went to Dr Hopla to see if I am starting to lose hearing in my other ear (left ear), due to allergies and also middle ear infection. I told him that I was having growling/swimmers ear with my left ear and that I am having problems hearing out of my ear. He decided to do a hearing test on both ears. I could not hear low frequency beeps for either ear during the test. The lady who did the auditory test whispered some words, which I could hear her say something but couldn't make out what she said (in both ears). After the test was done, Dr Hopla said that I had absolutely no hearing loss in either one of my ears...even though I couldn't hear some beeps and I couldn't make out the… whispered words. When I asked him if allergies could cause hearing loss he said "I can't say its completely abnormal..some people do and some people don't." He asked me what I was taking for my allergies and I said "zyrtec d" and he advised to try zyrtec... It seems like he doesn't know what he's talking about because with my allergies I have congestion and zyrtec-d is specifically for congestion, while regular zyrtec isn't. I was very unsatisfied with my visit and that he didn't help me at all. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SEEING DR HOPLA. Don't waste your time.

Dr. Hopla is not patient oriented. He did not care to listen to what I had to say. He was very cocky acting. He stated that he wanted me to have a specific service done. I didn't agree. He stated that is all that he knew to do. He walks out of the room without asking me did I have any other questions...for that matter he didn't ask me did I have any questions at all. He didn't seem interested in hearing about all the symtopms I was experiencing. I would not recommend this doctor. Horrible experience.

Dr. Hopla is a wonderful doctor. My son has been seeing him for years. I would recommend Dr. Hopla to anyone.

My appointment was at four and I didn't see the Dr.Hopla until almost six. He saw me for five minutes and told me he didn't see anything wrong and did not know why my ears and throat were in pain. He prescribed me a mouth wash for candida which he did not test for and I did not have. He was not personable by any means and did not once apologize for the wait.
