Dr. Danesh Afaq Alam, MD

I have been trying to reach Dr Alam for several weeks. I leave messages on his voice mail and call his answering service. They just tell me to leave a message on the first number, which I have done repeatedly. Even when the answering service left him a message on another number, he did not reply. He's one of only 3 psychiatrists covered by my new insurance and the other two aren't taking patients at the moment, so I'm getting desperate. At least tell me what's up, please! AGGRAVATING.

I think Dr. Alam is overworked. Extraordinarily frustrating to leave message after message for him with no response - and his voicemail instructions send you in circles, telling you to contact his answering service in certain conditions, but they are instructed to tell you to leave him a voicemail at office number in that exact same circumstance. Once you're (finally) in his office, he seems like a fine gentleman, although his habit of just copying his previous note and not carefully updating it really screwed me over. According to his note, I was still taking medications that I had stopped many years earlier. This disqualified me from a life insurance policy to protect my family. Nothing personal against the man himself, but you probably want to look elsewhere if communication and accurate charting mean anything to you.
