Dr. Daniel B Armistead, DDS

Palo Alto Dentist Daniel B. Armistead didn’t start out to be a dentist. His first love was singing opera and teaching music. His nickname is still the “Dentist of Seville”.
Dan graduated with a music degree from Pomona College, in 1964, and from Stanford with an M.A. in Education. After serving in the Navy, he settled into a music teaching career at Awalt High, Los Altos, while rehearsing at night in the San Francisco Opera Chorus. Being a dentist was the farthest thing from his mind.
Following his heart he attended USC to earn an M.A. in Music and Voice. There he met his future wife who was working on her Masters in Library Science. "When she married me she believed she was marrying an opera singer," he says. My studies included the anatomy of the larynx at the dental school which somehow led him into the USC School of Dentistry.
Even before he knew he had passed the California dental board exam he bought the dentistry office and practice on Alma Street where he still greets …his family of patients. Some of them have been bringing their entire families to the Dentist of Seville for decades.
The same year he started his dental practice in Palo Alto, Dan joined the Lions Club to participate in the club's commitment to helping people. His life-long commitment to serving the community is as well known in Palo Alto as is his lyric tenor voice in countless roles with Stanford Opera Theater, Palo Alto’s West Bay Opera and Stanford’s Savoyards.
Dr. Dan keeps his skills current through ongoing study and participation in dental and scientific classes. He fulfils all the requirements of California for continuing studies. He is also an active member of the Peninsula Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and the American Association for Dental Sleep Medicine.
