The most caring and competent doctor who has helped me very much with my depression.

Aloof, arrogant, self important, rudely chomping on food--lunch, nuts, whatever, throughout every appointment regardless of the time. Focused on irrelevant issues not the crisis I came to him about.

Avoid this place ..

I've read a lot of the reviews and can see what others are saying but I don't necessarily agree with them. My wife is a patient of his (2 years currently, and several years ago when she lived in California) and, on occasion, I go to the appointments with her. I find getting an appointment is tricky since he does spend 1/2 his time in Hawaii, but if you plan it accordingly it should not be a problem. He also has other staff members who are willing to jump in and help if he is not around (which happened once when he was called out for an emergency). Getting appointments has not been an issue for us. He has spent as little as 5 minutes with us and as long as 45 minutes, based, I assume, on his attempts at diagnosing my wife or just observing her. The last time there he noticed changes in my wife's moods that I did not recognize. I find his visits are much more of a help than a hindrance and if it cost more it's money well spent. The office wait time, sometimes, can be a… little long but I have waited longer at other doctors offices so I don't consider this an issue. Most of the time it's only 10 or 15 minutes. I have never had a problem with his staff in Pasadena. Some people complain about his bedside manner - I find him to be a very positive influence with my wife (and me when I am there). I have never felt like others do; that he is only in it for the money. I find he has always given us his full attention. If I had one thing I can say I am not thrilled with is his follow up after a visit (his office or him personally). I think a simple phone call a couple days later to see if we had any follow up questions would be a great service. Now, other doctors don't do it and I find it's rare when a doctor does. This is not a big deal to us, just it would be nice. I have called the office on occasion and have always gotten a response to my inquiries in a reasonable time, usually within a couple hours (during work hours). It has never gone 24 hours. So I do highly recommend him and if he ever does retire he will be missed here.

There is nothing memorable, but how above par his ignorance really is. The man needs to return to school.

I've been seeing Dr. Asimus for over a year now and he always has a great way of explaining things which has really helped my outlook on life. I was diagnosed with ADHD over 10 years ago and go through periods of depression. My previous ADD docs were only interested in trying to get me on the newest drug (which was the worst because of all the side effects). Dr. Asimus has always taken the time to work with me to find what works best for me and I appreciate that. He also has expertise in Integrative Holistic Medicine and doesn't try and keep his patients on drugs forever. He takes good notes and actually takes the time to listen. He is a very busy doctor who is not always available because he is in Hawaii a few weeks at a time (where I believe he has a practice there as well). He has always given his 100% undivided attention during our scheduled appointments. So for those who have complained about emergencies. Call 911. On one occasion, he was unable to make an appointment… (which is extremely rare - only happened once) but he still took the time to call me and do a session over the phone. They hired a new person who is at the front desk (I don't remember her name but she is very warm and friendly). He also recommended, in addition to psychiatric help, I see a therapist regularly, which has helped tremendously. The therapists at Life Fitness Center are top notch caring individuals - especially Petar Sardelich.

Dr. Asimus is a Healthgrades Recognized Doctor. He is kind, honest, considerate, and is super helpful and professional. His staff is courteous, friendly and best of all, they never fail to call me each month to remind me of my next apt. He can get very busy as is with many who are exceptional in their field. I make sure I get my next appointment set up at least 2 weeks ahead but if forget to, he never failed to call me back, faxed my Rxs or had a session over the phone. You can check his credentials before visiting him I was impressed and, frankly, a little intimidated. After my first visit with him, I walked out feeling as if I knew him for a very long time. I felt very comfortable, that I made a great choice.

Dr. Dan is a caring and wise doctor who will take the time to listen to your problems.
