I'm pretty sure Dr. Barton, Nora, and the ketamine protocol saved my life. I was first diagnosed with depression and anxiety at 12 years old, in the late 1970s and I've been treated with pharmaceuticals and therapy off and on since then - with some good effects and a lot of side effects. The relief I experienced from the first dose was more immediate and impactful than anything ever before. At almost 57, and despite what I've achieved professionally and personally, I don't really have the coping skills to function and external stressors put me in a tailspin. The 6-session ketamine protocol got me healed enough to want to actually show up as myself in the world. Had met with another Ketamine clinic and felt much better about Dr. Barton which turned out to be an accurate intuition. Both he and his RN, Sandi, are professional yet personal, and extremely compassionate. Whether you decide to undertake Ketamine treatments or not is not is obviously your decision. I have been a patient of Dr. Barton's for several years. I have been struggling with Treatment-Resistant Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD, OCD, and PTSD for over 50 years. I have been treated with just about every medication out there, and other alternative treatments such as ECT, Vagus Nerve Stimulation, Accupunture, etc. I was referred to Dr. Daniel Barton at the Nashville Ketamine Center to try a new medication that was of a different class than the medications I have tried. We reviewed the relevant facts of my past treatments to determine if I was a good candidate for Ketamine Treatment. He explained the nature of Ketamine, the process of treatment, and the potential outcomes. He was very matter of fact, but I felt that he really cares about his patients and potential patients, that he is very serious about this method of… treatment, and that he wanted to be clear with me about the treatment experience, possible outcomes, and potential side-effects. My sense is that Dr. Barton believes in the value of Ketamine for the treatment of Depression. As for me, the treatment has been intense but found that it has had a powerful, positive impact on treating my Deep Depression. The Center is a quiet, tranquil place and the treatment process is intense but comfortable. His nurse, Sandi, is a real gem. Dr. Barton and Sandi work very closely together to ensure my treatment is safe, appropriate, and effective. Sandi always provides compassionate and professional care and helps to soothe any concerns and fears that I experience before and during the procedure. Dr. Barton, Sandi, and Ketamine provided me with help that I needed to deal with Depression. Further, I have found that it is very important to work concurrently with a Psychologist or Therapist to deal with past and current issues. Ketamine and Mental Health Therapy work together, hand-in-hand to maximize the benefit of treatment. Dr. Barton, Sandi and the other staff at the Nashville Ketamine Center have been amazing. I continue to receive treatments as needed but over time treatments is getting farther apart. Let me be clear, I (and I mean, I), recognize that Ketamine, medications, and alternative treatments do not cure my mental health issues but rather are necessary for me to manage the issues I live with every day. Dr. Barton, Sandi, and Ketamine treatment have help me cope with the great problem of Depression.

I am the mother of a young adult who has been suffering, and I do mean suffering, from depression and anxiety. Today we just finished the Ketamine treatment and I have to give a short overview of what happened. Over the past couple of years my son became more and more secluded, not leaving the house, not getting hair cuts, barely eating and his anxiety was through the roof. I did some research to see if there was anything that could help him more immediate than going back on Lexapro, which didn't seem to work. He was so far down a deep dark hole he wouldn't agree to take medicine again anyway. I came across Ketamine and Dr. Barton while searching online. During the first appointment Dr. Barton listened to my son and said he was hesitant to start the treatment without knowing if my son would do the work such as therapy and other things that are needed for a full recovery. Ketamine does not fix everything he warned. I appreciated this. He was not trying to sell me on something… that is very expensive and doesn't work for everyone. However, my son was in desperate need and I believed there would be a possibility of it jump starting a recovery. Dr. Barton explained this all to us and wanted us to go into it with full knowledge of what Ketamine could do and what other work we needed to do. Again, I appreciated all this information and no pressure. Now, after 6 treatments, my son is the person I knew was inside that tormented mind. He can now sort out the negative thoughts, he is laughing again, eating again and willing to see a new therapist. We also did genetic testing which Dr. Barton said could help us figure out which anti-depressant would be best for his genetic makeup. Turns out Lexapro is not the best option for him. Now we don't have to go through months of trial and error to find him something to maintain. I'm grateful that Dr. Barton is providing Ketamine as an option. It's not cheap but a price can't be put on me having my son back. IT IS IMPORTANT TO FIND A DOCTOR WHO LISTENS AND PROVIDES YOU WITH INFORMATION. THIS IS WHAT DR. BARTON DID FOR US.

Normally i'd want to leave a short and sweet post, but i feel like it wouldn't express how much gratitude i have for this place and Dr B ! One day i was driving and i hear on the radio that there's a new "Wonder Drug" called "Ketamine" that is now being used to treat bad stages of depression and this person on the radio was definitely preaching to the right audience. Right after i went on the internet to learn more about it and look for a clinic near me, When i went on the Nashville Ketamine website and read through all the material i thought to myself i better give this a shot which went against my past experiences. I have been suffering from depression from a young age and have been to two drs previously one which i discontinued after two visits and one which was for almost a year, that dr recommended i start taking an anti-depressant which made me feel worse than i was and ended up not wanting to take any medication, i got better but it turned out that the problem was just… being masked(I didn't know at the time) recently i had been in a very bad state, when i say bad i mean seeing no point in life ! As i am writing this i'm shocked of how distant i am from these feelings after 8 days(4 Sessions) of Ketamine the "Wonder Drug" In our first session Dr B was able to understand my main struggles and together we set a plan(Part of it was to start going to therapy again) . The amount of light bulbs that lit up in that clinic were countless, i will state some of the wins i have encountered so far : 1- Decrease in negative thoughts 2- Not getting worked up & more accepting of unpleasant situations 3- Better Sleep, No nightmares 4- Food has taste now(You'll have to experience this one to get it) 5- Satisfied by the small things(A nice breeze) 6- Feeling content 7- House more organised/clean 8- Noticing things at workplace, places where i go out that i didn't notice before 9- Driven(If i want to do it i will, not the maybe some other time attitude) 10- Higher Energy levels And i keep noticing things as i go, this is just the top of my list. My only advice to you in this whole process is to not worry ! Dr. B has your back I recommend this to everyone that hasn't been feeling themselves lately and needs that push to move forward and reach their full potential It's ok not to be ok, what's not ok is not to do anything about it ! When it comes to the cost, think of it as that dream get away that you save months for. A good quality life is worth so much more( Dr. B would probably run the clinic for free if he could) I hope this inspires someone one day to take that same leap of faith that i took and i will keep this updated as i go !

I have been seeing Dr. Barton for a few years, and I genuinely believe he cares about his patients' outcomes. I have experienced a few psychiatrists who only want to over-medicate you and send you out the door. When you find one who really wants to get to know you and get to the root of your problem, you better hang with them! I am also a medical provider and I know that not every medication or therapy is going to work for everyone. The practice of medicine is a lot of trial and error, with a lot of gray area, especially in psychiatry. Your first treatment plan may not work. The second and third may not work, but the key is to find a provider who wants to partner with you and take the time and effort necessary to find what works for you.
