Dr. Daniel Mark Brown, MD

Dr. Brown is a wonderful doctor who cares about his patients. He is always available for me. He is highly professional. He provides exceptional medical care for his patients. Highly recommend.

I have had a relatively high PSA average since my early 40's. I'm now 64. My regular Doc was a bit concerned about a recent spike to 6.0, (which I had before, but on a subsequent test two months later it went down to 2.5). So I went to see Dr. Brown. To be fair, it is possible he looked at my history that had been provided by my Doc, but during the visit, he sat down, opened a file, looked at it, honestly, for perhaps three seconds and said, "ah, high PSA. I'll schedule a biopsy." We chatted for a bit about his procedure and, noting my clinical interest, he took me to see the biopsy room and his particular type of equipment. He did a GREAT job of explaining how it would work, but only upon my direct inquiry did he acknowledge the % of both false negatives and positives. My three stars does not indicate that he is not an excellent surgeon. And other patients have indicated his biopsies are exceptionally painless. That's all good. My concern was that he did not, by what I could… ascertain, review my information. It could be that he feels the biopsy is so low-risk and pain free that it should be done if even the most slight risk of cancer is indicated. But, unlike many patients, I don't care if my insurance will pay for a biopsy... we all pay in the end, and my studied assessment of my own risk was low, knowing my history. PSA baseline data is important since PSA is NOT directly indicative of cancer, but rather is related to tissue mass. So the three stars is more indicative to me of over-eagerness to do biopsies and no apparent desire to review patient history, which he may see as irrelevant. His reception staff is wonderful, BTW.

The nurse and receptionist were great. Surprise visit from a med student. Neither she nor doctor had reviewed my referral information, new patient info, urine sample, nor bladder ultrasound. Med student pushed a med that the records showed created adverse reactions for me. I had to ask her to look a couple of time get it right. Promotional posters were on the wall for the med she was pushing. She then pushed a non-prescription procedure, again with posters for it adorning the treatment room walls. Later, she and the doctor returned, with him yelling that I refused to discuss my information with the student. Obviously not true, as I discussed the Flomax (adverse medication) with her, discussed urination decrease with glucose reading decrease, etc. He demanded twice that I change my answer to the student, a demand that confused me, so I said I didn't know or want to change anything. AVOID THIS DOCTOR. He's pushing products, not objective medicine!

Dr Brown is the best urologist I have had, which over the years is several. I trust him completely as he quickly diagnosed my problems and makes sure I have my needed medications when I travel. He takes his time making sure all my questions and concerns are answered.

After hearing people speak on their prostate biopsy experience and reading the "hit by a baseball bat" accounts on the Web, I was absolutely terrified to schedule and have one. Under Dr Brown's care and method, it was completely painless! All my previous urology doctor could tell me was "I do use an anesthetic", but Dr Brown assured me about his personally developed procedure and it actually went off virtually pain free. I made myself all nervous and upset about it for nothing; with my wife remarking how apprehensive my red-colored face looked on the way to the appointment! If I had known (or was better assured previously) how it was going to go, I would have got it done a year sooner.

I am a Fellow in the American College of Physicians myself and retired clinical assistant professor of medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University. When one other Olympia, a Swedish hosipital urologist and radiation oncologist as well as a University of WA urologist all were unwilling to attempt to treat my prostate cancer I found Dr Brown who developed the instruments for the surgery. I am now 2 1/2 years cancer free. Best urologist in my career.

Great doctor. I really like him and trust him completely. He accurately and quickly diagnosed my problem, and set me on a course of treatment that has been completely effective. I would, and have, referred him without queston. Seems to have a good sense of humor too, which is good to have when you do the kind of work he does!

Dr. Brown promised me that my prostate biopsy would create no pain. I was apprehensive, but he was totally right. I felt no pain whatsoever. Additionally, he has wonderful bedside manner. He is rated highly by the Washington State board.

We began seeing Dr. Brown when our teenage son was referred to a urologist, and he and his staff have been great. Dr. Brown is down to earth, easy to talk to, and made our son feel comfortable. Throughout the process he also consulted with a pediatric urologist and kept me informed along the way as to what they both felt was the best option, which I appreciated. My son did end up needing surgery and as scary as that is for a parent, Dr. Brown did an excellent job. I definitely recommend him.

It's been 10 years when I had my monarc procedure done by Dr. Brown and still very happy with the outcome. I am very thankful that I picked a great doctor. I am a very active person and I won't be able to do all the activities that I love to do if I did not have the procedure. Dr. Brown took his time and explained the procedure thoroughly. The staff were very friendly and professional. I always recommend Dr. Brown to all my relatives, friends and anyone that need a urologist.
