"I am Active duty Army. I have been in for 5 years and 1 month. I have met with many Neurosurgeons and this one has by far been the worst experience. He dismissed me throughout the entire appointment. My case is a rare case and very controversial one. I have a Tarlov Cyst at my S2-S3. I have met other cases like mine and each one gets dismissed. There are only TWO professional Neurosurgeons in the United States. I discussed all this with him and he still dismissed me and questioned a Neurosurgeon that gave me my diagnosis. The neurosurgeon he dismissed is Dr. Schrot in Sacramento California. Dr. Schrot has been in practice for 28 years. He is someone I trust to give me an honest opinion on such a rare cyst that is compressing on nerves in the spine. He has done these surgeries many times. Dr. Coughlin also dismissed Dr. Schrot being correct and stated “I don’t know or care about this guy.” Feeling dismissed when you are going thru something you wish you could make someone else feel is… the worst thing anyone could ever experience. Please bring Tarlov Cyst awareness to the Army!!! Please. Overall experience with this provider.. was horrible and dismissive. There is another Tarlov cyst professional is Dallas, Texas and his name is Dr. Feigenbaum, M.D. I don’t wish this to ever happen to anyone else. But sadly it does. "
