Misdiagnosed my father with neuropathy. My father lost a significant amount of weight and muscle mass and he required a walker to get up from a seated position and stand. He could barely walk even with the walker. While all the signs for amyloidosis were present, he did not order additional testing or even a referral. Not even a treatment recommendation. This specialist simply discharged my father from his care because it was too difficult for him and his staff to move my father. After a year passed, my father’s condition worsened, I called and begged for an appointment but was told that this specialist would not see my father since he had not seen him for a year. This was after I was told not to bring him back. Soon thereafter, my father passed away, suffering horribly until the very end.
