Went for surgery for an injury , my husband and I were so taken back by his rude , dismissive condescending manner . Doctor syndrome is what my husband calls it . His average wait time is 2 hours to get a doctor up spend 5 minutes if your lucky and act annoyed . Getting surgery is a big deal and is made so much worse when you are spoken down to . Run don’t walk , so many better doctors!! So sorry I used him it has make my recovery so hard since his post op care is terrible .

I was wheelchair bound with alot of other significant problems... Dr. Gelb got me on the table as soon as his schedule allowed. He spent time to understand my circumstances and helped me avoid the disc compression taking away my lower extremity functioning! I would recommend him above nearly every surgeon in the area as he pretty much saved my life. If you have been struggling with uncaring or less than compassionate medical care don't.. Take the trip to Columbia or the beautiful office they have in downtown Baltimore by the Orioles stadium to see Dr. Gelb!

Dr. Gelb is a phenomenal doctor and surgeon. He listens to you, he takes the time to explain everything to you. When I had my surgery he made sure I had everything I needed, he came by each day to check on me even after his team and made sure that my husband was always informed. He really cares about his patients!

Dr. Gelb was worth waiting for; he is terrific.

They are terrible at doing their job they told they will call me back but never did and every time u call back u can't get a answer they say will call back and never call back again I took my mom there to get her knees checked out its been 4 month now I'm waiting for her injection prescription to get there but never did first they Said it got expired so they request again than I got a call from pharmacist that they never sent the prescription to them this is ridiculous someone should take of this mess, I will not recommend this ortopidic office to anyone because u will never get an answer or treatment people up front are so rude and dont want to answear ur question its one the worse doctor offices i ever been in my life i hope someone would take care of it and do better job in managing the place

Dr. Gelb was very personable. My daughter wasn't nervous because of his personality. He was absolutely 100% accurate in her diagnosis. My daughter is healing well and ahead of schedule. Her discomfort and pain are now gone and this is just two weeks after surgery. As everyone's experience is different...we had a phenomenal one.

I am a 23 year old student and I sit down to study a lot. When Dr.Gelb first walked into the room he was initially very kind, but then once we actually started talking about my problem, he became arrogant and rude. He told me that having constant back pain and muscle spasms, which cause me to stay in bed in agonizing pain ALL DAY, are normal for my age and said that he has had "back pain since he was 17 years old" and he has "learned to deal with it." I am glad that he has learned to deal with his back pain, but I personally would rather find an answer to my problem and not be laughed at for thinking that I have a problem when I am 23 years old and having muscle spasms in my lower back everyday. Now that he is 50, his back pain has started to die down. So I should wait for 17 years until I stop having pain? That's a great answer, doc! I am not overweight, but he told me the answer to my problem is to work out and if my back goes out because I am working out, I should just DEAL WITH… IT. He wouldn't even let me get an MRI because he said that everyone has back spasms and back pain. I am leaving to go out of the country for 3 months and I am terrified about having a muscle spasm which is going to knock me out in a third world country where they do not have doctors like here, or medicines like here, and he told me I should just deal with being knocked out for a couple of days and my back will be better after those couple of days of agonizing pain. He then proceeded to act like I was a drug addict when I asked him for any kind of medication because I was terrified about not being functional when I was out of the country. I love the other doctors at University of Maryland, they have been nothing but amazing. However, I would seriously rethink your choice to see this one.
