Dr. Daniel J. George, MD

5 is an insufficient number of stars. In mine and my wife's combined 153 years of experience with doctors, 3 stand alone: Dr. Greg Holmes , then at Boston Children's Hospital, Dr. Jonathan Rosenberg, the current chief at the Sidney Kimmel center at Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Dr. Daniel George. This is an excellent, compassionate doctor who is totally devoted to providing the best care for his patients. He goes above and beyond the call of duty while also exhibiting excellent bedside manner. Additionally Dr. George stays abreast of all the latest medicines, medical research, information and procedures; so you know you are in excellent hands with him. I do not know any doctor who does a better job at explaining complex medical information in a more understandable way than this doctor does. He is truly in a class all his own. Dr. Daniel George is extraordinary!

Dr. George is everything you could ever dream of in a doctor, and then more. He's one of the best in his speciality for a reason, and I would recommend him to anyone. While the disease we were forced to battle was difficult, Dr. George and his staff made the fight easier. Yes, he's busy and yes, you will wait longer past your appointment time. Remember though, he's the best. You will wait longer because he will take his time with each patient. He possesses a bedside manner that is exceptional, one that is natural and cannot be taught. He will do whatever it takes to help you, and you are going to want someone like him in your corner. He's intelligent, innovative and caring. Without a doubt, he is one of the most genuine doctors I've ever met. Most importantly, if Durham is not your primary home and something goes wrong in your city- he will be there. He will do what it takes to get you back in his care. Trust me, he will always go above and beyond.

I did not like how Dr. George spoke to the patient. We waited "four hours" because we were told he was going to put my husband in a trial that they had been seeing amazing results from. This information coming from his colleague who had confirmed this with him prior to making appointment with him. He never looked us in the eye. He talked in circles but never once addressing the specific disease. He spoke in abbreviations, GSK, Merck, Ippi. Because I have worked in healthcare for 30 years I knew he meant pharmaceutical companies. Long story short, there is no trial open. He is hoping it will be open in May but that's up to the government. So let's just try radiation and then closer to May come back and see me. Then started to leave the room when I asked if we were supposed to make an appointment to come back and he said well, go ahead and get it on the books then we will do a CT scan. I asked him if I should make that appointment, sure that's fine. He was an arrogant jerk. We… know my husbands cancer is probably terminal, but because of the trial that he supposedly has we were referred to him. It was an insult and waste of time.
