Dr. Daniel James Gesek, MD

Dr. Gesek removed my daughter's wisdom teeth. 1st, it's a surgery factory, he gives each surgery under a half hour. But worse than that, I spent 6 post-surgery days trying to get a human on the phone and never could. I left message after message and text after text. They never called in her pain medication. I even left a message that she's having complications and increased swelling, and still nothing. I've had to sit by helplessly and watch my child cry for almost a week in pain. They flat out DO NOT CARE! They'll happily take your money for the surgery, but pray there's no complications that necessitate after care, because it's nonexistent. I strongly recommend finding someone else to entrust you or someone you love's dental needs to.

This practice should be avoided at all costs if you value your money, time, and sanity. Not only do they have unfair and malicious billing practices, but it took me over two and a half years to settle the billing issues caused by this practice due to their poor staffing, lack of responsiveness, and flagrant disregard for customer service and care. In early August of 2020, I had a consultation for an orthagnathic surgery. Soon after running into some insurance issues due to poor insurance claims filing on their part, this practice began billing me for these consultation “services” and incurring finance charges even though they assured me it would be resolved and I would not have to pay the amounts due. Despite these hazy promises, I continued to receive invoices in the mail for the next 2.5 years every single month, with each month incurring additional finance charges due to lack of payment for the costs I was allegedly not required to pay. I continued to call over the next years,… often unable to even reach someone. You’ll notice that when you call their office and do not receive an immediate answer, there is no option to leave a message. For over a year, I received “voicemail is full” messages, and now they’ve changed their phone system to tell you to try again later and automatically hang up, with no other options to attempt contact. If you ask me, any medical provider that actively avoids their patients when they have issues is not one that is willing to provide quality and ethical care, nor one that is deserving to work on something as critically important as your own body. When I was able to speak with individuals at the practice, they assured me it would all be resolved and that they would call me back in a couple of days. Not once did I ever receive a call back; this runaround just kept going and the bills just kept coming. Even worse, sometime throughout this debacle, I received a call from the office that told me that Drs. Imray and Gesek were “breaking up” over some personality issues and they would have to refer me to another provider for orthagnathic surgery. So other than a tooth extraction which was fully paid by myself and my insurance, this office provided me exactly zero service that was able to be of use for the other provider they now forced me into transferring to. And yet, the bills kept coming. Today, February 13, 2023 (note the date of the first consultation), I was finally able to get the finance charges dropped. However, despite the fact that due to the practice’s negligence in being unable to provide the orthagnathic surgery due to their internal relationship problems, Dr. Gesek insisted that I still needed to pay for the consultations that were, from my perspective, contingent on being able to provide the service to which the consultation was related. I know the dental community is small in Jacksonville, but if you want to save hundreds, even thousands of dollars and years of headache, you need to act decisively to avoid this risk and find another provider. If I had not been so active in reaching out to them over this extended period and reading the fine print of their invoices, I’m certain that the damage done to my financial situation would have been much much worse. I can’t imagine how awful this billing problem would have been had I actually received a surgery from Dr. Gesek. I suffered financial loss, but it could have been much worse; do yourself a favor and don’t take that risk.

DO NOT... I repeat... FOR GOODNESS SAKES DO NOT... go to this dental provider. I was referred to Dr. Gesek by McKinney Dental for two wisdom tooth extractions. On my first visit Dr. Gesek was extremely rude. He cut me off when I tried to tell him I was only having two teeth extracted. He stated will you just let me talk! I should have known better then to not let him work on my mouth. But foolishly I did. Since, I have had nothing but complications constantly and I even brought in pictures to show Dr. Gesek an inflamed red bump near my gum where he extracted my lower wisdom tooth and he dismissed my concern saying it was nothing and was normal to look that way. I truly was in disbelief after he stated this. I am concerned that Dr. Gesek's pride is affecting his view of reality. Now, after an infection, abscess, a month of constant pain and 4 post op visits I am now securing a different oral surgeon to figure out why I am still in pain 30 days after Dr. Gesek removed to wisdom teeth. I… made this decision after Dr. Gesek said the only resolution would be to do more surgery on my mouth to see if there is "something else" in there. he must be crazier than he looks! To top it all off, Dr. Gesek's office billed my insurance twice for my procedure and over charge my insurance for one of my extractions which was normal, stating it was impacted and partially bony when it was not. They charged my insurance 350.00 dollars for it. I reported it to my insurance company as fraud and have asked them to investigate it.

Stay away! I went in for an infection and when I got there their old and outdated equipment wasn't even working and couldn't take an x-ray. They sent me home with no prescription or anything. I had to go straight over to my general dentist to get antibiotics until I could be seen by a real oral surgeon with equipment from this millennium. They had the audacity to charge me $225 for 30 seconds of telling me they could not do anything. I refuse to pay it on principal. I've tried reasoning with the office to no avail. They have now sent me to collections. Absolute charlatans!

Dr. Gesek was friendly and professional and had the tooth out in a second. No pain and was given instructions oon how to make it heal properly. I was very pleased with the whole procedure. Diana

I was recommended by another dentist office to Dr. Gesek. Had never heard of this office before. I was able to go in the same day. He had to pull a crack tooth. I had very minimal pain, he was very personal and professional.

Little more is quite as important than ones overall health; Our health and happiness are infectious to all that surround us! Upon consultation, I requested that Dr. Gesek and his staff remove two impacted wisdom teeth from my mouth, and they did this thing in a most professional and courteous manner. There was some pain and discomfort involved as to be expected, but the extractions were expedited in the fashion of a battlefield surgeon during which Gesek verbally walked with me during the procedure, most conscious of my well being. Dr. Gesek and his staff have endeared me, with respect and gratitude for a job well done!!!

My experience wasn't soo terrible but the fact that he wouldn't answer and of my questions about after effects of the surgery and then after the surgery a nurse is legally required to be in the room with you while you are coming to from the anesthesia and there was defiantly not. I recover with no infections but there on call doctor wouldn't call me back until after the pharmacy was closed and he acted bothered by me when I just needed something for the nausea I was dealing with. The bed side manner is terrible and I wish I shopped around for anther more caring doctor. I also recently heard from other past patients that he has made mistakes while removing teeth that had horrible consequences. My friend can not feel anything on one side of his face and his taste buds have been permanently damaged. This cost the doctor lots of money in malpractice law suites. take my advice and get your oral surgery done elsewhere.
