Dr. Daniel A Giacomo, MD

This man, who claims to be a psychiatrist, has the absolute worst bedside manner. He could literally care less if you live or if you die. His disinterest is apparent from the moment you walk in his door. He will not greet you. He will not shake your hand. He'll simply ask you want you want to do. Uhhhh, dude... you're the doctor. You tell me what I should do. His office manager sucks, as well. I sent them several messages to cancel an upcoming appointment and yet they STILL charged me a no-show fee. You'd have better success telling all your problems to dirty sock than to this joke of a medical professional.

My family’s experience with this doctor was extremely poor. I have accompanied family to multiple appointments at northshore and had always had a positive experience until we saw him. I am a healthcare professional w/ experience in quality and 10 years of experience in psychiatry. I was appalled with his lack of professionalism, insensitivity and poor bedside manner. He was approx 30minutes late; did not explain why; he did not introduce himself and did not seem to have any knowledge of my family members case despite having all information in EMR. He was not sensitive to accompanying family members wishes to speak to him, despire pt being elderly and knowing that there were concerns with dementia-like and manic like symptoms. Please approach with caution. He made a very difficult and sentive medical situation, unnecessarily more difficult, and potentially unsafe.

I just spoke with Dr. Giacomo today and found it revelatory. Unlike other psychiatrists I've been to, he looked me in the eye while speaking with me and discussed at length his perspective on symptoms and psychological issues I contend with. Throughout our talk, he was open-minded, analytical, practical, and sympathetic. We discussed the option of trying a medication and he explained to me the pros and cons of this approach thoroughly. I am surprised to see negative reviews of him on here, as I found the experience both comforting, enriching, and supportive.

I went to Dr. Giacomo to be treated for depression. After one year of treatment, my depression worsened and I ended up in the hospital. After adjusting my medications, Dr. Giacomo continued to treat me for depression. Once again the depression worsened and he adjusted my medications. I ended up in the hospital twice in a two week period as my symptoms were not getting better. Finally, out of desperation, I went to a different doctor and found that I did not have depression at all. I can not recommend this doctor.

Dr. Giacomo was arrogant and disrespectful, refusing to take the input of the family into account. Started the session by telling us we had 20 minutes; ended by saying time's up - even though a potential crises situation was presenting itself. The minimum standard for a mental health professional is caring; he does not meet that bar. He might have been great at one time; but now its hard to understand why he is still in the business.

I went to this doctor because he was in that work and was just given to me when I wanted to make an appointment. This man never looked me in the eye, just had me circle a bunch of statements on a piece of paper And leave. The whole process took seven minutes. Then when I wanted to wean myself off of the drug, the nurse told me how to do it but neglected to tell me that it had severe side effects of weaning off including feelings of suicide etc. how can this doctor still be practicing?

If you aren't looking for someone who you want to listen to your problems for an extended amount of time, he is the right doctor. He knows what he is doing and doesn't make you have a long drawn out session with him. The wait time could improve.

Dr. Giacomo never smiles. Ever. He's the most depressing depression doctor on planet Earth (perhaps in the whole solar system). If a perky circus clown walked in, he'd be frowning in 30 seconds. I hadn't seen him in 6 months and he wouldn't refill my prescriptions until I came in for an "appointment" and "check-in." Walked in, sat down, answered two questions "You still taking __x___?" and "You will talking __y___?", was shown the door. 1 minute 45 seconds. A new record! I think if I treated my anxiety with street drugs, I'd have a closer, more productive relationship with my dealer. I'm not at all exaggerating. I swear if you met him and saw him in action with all of his sick, sad and hurting patients, you'd swear he was sent from an SNL casting. It's so sad, it's almost funny to think his job is to make people feel positive.

First time very satisfying

I used to appreciate this doctorâ??s straightforwardness and clear-cut directions, but he is habitually late, which I find disrespectful to patients. This morning I waited 40 minutes to see him and was told that Iâ??d have to reschedule as a new patient because I hadnâ??t been there in a year (even though I was able to make the appointment through their online system). Itâ??s hard enough for people to make the effort to get help with these issues, so to be so disorganized and turn patients away is irresponsible.
