Miss placed Trust Two years ago, Dr. Hatch showed up to my bunion surgery two and a half hours late. I requested we do the surgery some other time, but he convinced me otherwise. I asked him not to rush the surgery, but it appears he did. I ended up with over correction on my big toe of 17 degrees. He refused to try and correct it but acknowledged it was an issue and instead suggested I get a second opinion and wait to do anything as it could correct itself. I later found out this diagnosis was incorrect, as anything over 10 degrees should be dealt with immediately. A year later, I talked him into correcting the problem as my whole foot was in pain (this was a mistake on my part; I never should have trusted him). He performed a fusion of my first metatarsal, big toe, and overcorrected it. This has caused severe additional pain. He also talked me into correcting a Tailor’s bunion on the outside of my foot at the same time as the fusion, even though it was not bothering me. That… suggestion was made just a half an hour before surgery. All he did was cut out a piece of bone for that bunion. I’m still suffering today with severe pain in several areas of my foot. He also ignored a hammer toe on my third metatarsal that has since gotten severe and caused additional significant pain. I cannot walk with my wife and dog in the morning or play pickleball, which is my favorite pastime. To this day, I walk with a limp and suffer from severe pain 24/7. Mowing the lawn or trying to remove snow from my driveway requires icing my foot for the rest of the day. I’ve got an appointment to see a specialist podiatrist in Denver to see if anything can be done to correct the mess Dr. Hatch made of my right foot. I highly recommend you find someone else for any of your podiatry needs.
