Dr. Daniel Joe Herera, MD

Dr. Herera has had a varied career spanning many interests. He initially was a television news cameraman in San Diego and Los Angles, covering the breaking news stories of the day. He covered a variety of stories and his travels took him to the White House, Hollywood, and professional sports championship games, like the Super Bowl, NBA, and Major League Baseball playoffs. He saw through his work experience the daily repetitive activities that can lead to musculoskeletal dysfunction. As a former surfer, runner and cyclist he had first hand knowledge of how we can over train and sustain injuries. This led him to pursue a career in medicine. He is a Board certified Physiatrist, with experience in musculoskeletal injuries and gait dysfunctions, initially trained as a Chiropractor, he has valuable experience in spinal manipulation. After a thorough history and physical he may prescribe a short course of medications to alleviate the pain and muscle spasms that limit activity, Physical …therapy, joint or trigger point injections and spiral mobilization are also treatment options. His training included an undergraduate degree from San Diego State University in Radio-Television & Film, Journalism and English. He attended Medical School at St. Georges University School of Medicine and spent his internship year at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center. His specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation was obtained at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Herera is married and has three children; he is also fluent in Spanish.
