Dr. D Scott Karempelis, MD

I have been seeing Dr. K for 30 years. He has proved to be very knowledgeable, caring, concerned, and professional--top notch!!

1st appointment: Karempelis was "delayed in surgery" at 9 am and his front office told me to either come back another day or see Physicians Assistant, as PA was able to do the same work as the MD. I knew that was incorrect but I chose to see him rather than waste a day. PA told me to have red light treatment, which I scheduled for several days later. 2nd appointment: PA "busy", was given details of treatment by a young girl whose job title and qualfications she did not reveal. PA later set up red light lamp, then left me with the young girl who operated the lamp. Lamp was hot and uncomfortable to the extent that I began to wonder if something was wrong. After 20 minutes, she turned off the lamp. I was then sent home with no Rx, no pain medication but with the understanding that my face would burn. Three hours later, when the topical anesthesia wore off, my face felt as though it was on fire. I had nothing to alleviate the pain and lay awake all night. All that time I was thinking… of how much easier this procedure could have been if, at the very least, a mild pain reliever had been prescribed. Karempelis, who I never saw even for a minute, was referred to me by my primary care MD whose opinion, until then, I trusted. I did not pick his name out of the telephone book. I wanted to talk to Sharon, the office manager, but she didn't return my telephone call.

Dr. K is awesome!!

It is a pleasure to visit Dr. K's office (The Laser Institute)from start to finish! The staff is warm and welcoming and Dr. K is very knowledgeable and reassuring about every laser remedy he suggests for particular skin concerns. I am confident that the treatment he suggests is the latest cutting edge science available today. I have referred many friends and family members to this practice and all have had excellent results and have been very pleased with the professional yet informal feel of this office.

First visit today. I think we had less time because I had to hit the bathroom, and it was WAY down the hall...it must have cut into our time. Good thing I had my questions listed on my iPhone. I managed to get all the questions in and got good answers. It was weird that he began clipping skin tags and zapping me with freezing stuff while we were still talking - no warning that the pain was about to commence - but I'm pretty practical and got beyond that. It was actually comical once I got over the initial 'ouch!'. Minor pain for sure, just not expected. Regardless, I left feeling better about things and that he seems competent. Just be prepared with your questions and go to the bathroom before you enter the waiting room. There is a rating for follow up, which I can't really comment on yet so I have him a 4.
