Dr. Daniel Wt Kou, DDS

i am a high-functioning autistic person and i get overwhelmed easily by things like lights, noises, vibrations, smells, ect, all of which are very prominent in a dental office. long story short, i am 110% terrified of going to the dentist. i told dr kou about my condition and my fears ahead of time and he went above and beyond my wildest expectations in order to accommodate me. before my appointment he communicated with me and asked me specific, detailed questions about what exactly scared me so that he could truly understand my fears and how to help. i have never had a dentist before care so much - even before meeting me - and he was so willing to work with me and ask me how i felt about specific instruments, procedures, ect. it felt like i really had someone who truly wanted to help me and understand what i go through in regard to my anxiety. when i arrived at the office for the appointment, he personally came out to the waiting room to greet me and handed me a fidget toy to help… me calm down. when i went into the treatment room he had everything set up the way i like so that i could feel comfortable. i was able to get myself situated without feeling rushed or hurried. he made sure to warn me before he did anything so that there were no surprises - a very important thing for someone who is fearful of the dentist - and was extremely gentle. the numbing shots did not hurt at all - you can tell he is very skilled and conscientious of patients' comfort. it was the easiest numbing experience ive ever had... i didnt feel anything! there was a tv over my head that i could watch netflix on which was awesome and a great distraction tool. when i became overwhelmed at one point due to the noise of the instruments, i had a panic attack. dr kou immediately stopped what he was doing and held my hand while i tried to calm down and catch my breath. i have never had a doctor treat me in such a humane and understanding way. it is rare to find a doctor that can wholeheartedly accept anxious/fearful/phobic patients for who they are...this is not a skill that can be taught, and dr. kou inherently has the heart to truly understand and empathize with patients who struggle emotionally at the dentist. i never once felt judged or belittled when i had nervous outbursts. dr. kou handled everything throughout the appointment very calmly and never became flustered or frustrated when i got panicky. despite me having 3 panic attacks, the appointment went smoothly due to dr kou's ability to calm me down and refocus back into the procedure without a hitch. i have to go back to get a filling done and i do not have any worries about it because i know i will be in good, trusting hands. there is an obvious difference in the way dr. kou handles patients who need a little extra TLC and im truly blessed that i have found him. i had an incredibly positive experience here and i plan on telling everyone i know to come here. it is evident that dr kou is a special kind of dentist and has a very unique passion for truly helping people. he doesnt feel like a dentist that just comes in and does a procedure -- he feels like a friend who is by your side and guides you though the appointment process frisco is so lucky to have dr kou <3 IF YOU WANT A GREAT DENTIST YOU NEED TO COME HERE!!!!

We went to Renaissance dental in Fort worth Tx to have my daughters bottom wisdom teeth removed. They removed them then sent her home with a prescription for 800 mg of ibuprofen and discharge instructions to take prescribed pain meds AND 800MG OF IBUPROFEN!!! SHE COULD.HAVE DONE LIVER DAMAGE HAD WE FOLLOWED HIS INSTRUCTIONS AT DISCHARGE!. She had them removed at 4pm and she got.her dose.of ibuprofen at 6 by 9pm she was throwing up and shaking she was in so much pain. I tried to call the office thinking surely there would be an on call dr for situations such as these and I was met with a full voicemail and no.idea how to help my child. Now it is 11pm and we are at the ER trying to get my child some relief. If your smart you will find a dr that will not try to OD your child!
