I saw Dr. Riegel for over 5 years. Office visits varied. I usually had a 10 to 15 minute wait for my appointment, but generally had a good experience getting treatment. In the last couple of years, that has greatly deteriorated. When it comes to listening and trusting my description of my symtpoms, Dr. Riegel has seemed to be somewhat checked out, disinterested and disengaged. My last visit was the last straw. My complaints were met with statements like, "We can check for xxx, if you want, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you have," and "Let's try a medication. You might have better luck with this one." At one point, he actually left the exam room right in the middle of the appointment to answer what he thought was his cell phone ringing in the other room. And when I tried to explain my symptoms and what I thought was happening to my body, he all but rolled his eyes at me. Any reference to test results of the specialists that had treated me, was met with, "I can't help you… with that; you'll have to talk to them."Finally, I requested a specific test and found out that the results were 5x the top of the normal range, indicating that I had 'widespread inflammation" in my body. When I received a copy of the tests and called the nurse back to talk about the fact that the tests they had performed were not normal, as she first told me, I was floored to hear her try to justify her initial statement ("maybe it's because of . . .), rather than help me find out the reason or talk to the doctor about it. In the first conversation, it appeared that she hadn't yet even bothered to talk to the doctor about the results.I did my own research online, and after many hours determined that I was allergic to a medication they had prescribed for me. Some of my symptoms were known side-effects. Others were known indications of an allergic reaction that indicated the medication should be stopped right away.Suffice to say that if I had listened to Dr. Riegel, I would now be on 5 medications, in a fair amount of pain, unable to meet the demands of my life, and my general quality of life would be greatly reduced. As it is, I'm only on one.I had thought that I would not make a public review of this circumstance until I found out today from my pharmacy that the doctor wants me to come in again, well before the yearly anniversary of my last visit and blood test, before renewing that single prescription. It took several days for the office to get back to the pharmacy to tell them that. I just called to find out why, and could only leave a message for the nurse, who will undoubtedly call me back without a full understanding of my question, and then have to go talk to the doctor before calling me again.Dealing with this office is a full time job. This place is so messed up - I will not EVER go back there.

I would not go to any other doctor as long as Dr. Riegel is available. He gives you 100% of his attention. He is very knowledgeable and what he doesn't know he finds out.
