Dr. Daniel Robert Sage, MD

Doing great 8 weeks after Mako robotic TKR. All went well. Recovery has been great. Appointments move quickly b/c insurance companies demand it. I went to appts. with my questions written down. He talked to my husband in waiting area shortly after surgery and to me the day after surgery. Detailed operative report on my patient portal. Uses “Force Therapeutics” App to connect and send exercises. His practice had a liaison nurse that we could call with questions/concerns.

I walked out of my appointment with Dr. Sage on the phone scheduling with a new doctor at an office I trusted over 90 minutes away. He was incredibly dismissive, refused to acknowledge my genetic connective tissue disorder (which complicates any medical treatment I receive and should weigh especially heavily on joint issues), and literally walked out of the office before I could ask a single question forcing me to chase him into the hall to ask if he has any recommendations for pain relief as I hadn't slept in weeks. He begrudgingly sent me for an MRI which he was confident would come back clean and assured me I did not need a follow-up appointment. When he called to tell me that I surprisingly had a significant labral tear, he did not explain my options or set any expectations for care or recovery. I'm not sure if his treatment of me was related to being female, under 50, made him uncomfortable by having a condition he is not familiar with, or if this is just how he treats all his… patients, but it was completely unacceptable.

Four years ago I had a lft. knee TKR. It has continued to be painful despite exercise and PT. The rt. knee was replace by Dr. Krushell of Baystate and no problem. This left knee is worse now than it was 4 yrs ago.

He curtly told me I was overweight and would not consider me for surgery at that time. Told me to ask my primary care doctor all of my questions, as he won’t deal with me until I lose weight. Thank you for the $35 copay.

Dr Sage did a full knee replacement on me. He is a true professional and very easy to work with. Anyone considering this type of surgery would do well to consider Dr. Sage
