Dr. Daniel Philip Saviano, MD

This is the review of my uncle's doctor at South Shore that I'm going to leave on every website that allows me to post a review for him. I'll be reporting him to the hospital tomorrow. What other suggestions do you have for me to report him? My uncle is currently in the hospital at South Shore. Dr Saviano is the doctor in the ER. Initially, he came into the room saying nothing to either me or my uncle. The nurses had been trying to get a reading on his oxygen level which is hard to do for him because his fingers are often cold and it won't read. They were getting inaccurate readings that were below level. They kept trying to warm his fingers up to get a better reading. Dr. Saviano came in and in less than a minute decided he wanted to intubate him. My uncle is 83 years old with a myriad of problematic health issues, congestive heart failure, a pacemaker, prostate cancer, dementia, Etc. I told him that I didn't want him to be intubated because he had had problems at the same hospital… a few weeks prior with just taking a small sedative to help him sleep and because of his small size and all of his health issues, he stayed asleep for a day and a half with just a small dosage. Intubation requires sedation and I was afraid that it would make him worse. When I stated this, he just said I think he should be intubated and we kind of went back and forth until I finally said I don't want him to be intubated. He then asked me if I wanted to sign a do not resuscitate for him. I felt that that was a scare tactic to make me feel afraid that if I don't let him intubate that he may die. I have been in the hospital with my uncle for more than 10 hours and he has not said anything else to me with regard to my uncle's status unless I approached him. I had to ask for a nutritional supplement IV because my uncle's dementia kicks in when he hasn't been eating. I had to ask about whether he's supposed to be given his medications. The nurses and I have been performing the duties of the doctor. The nurses are the only ones who are really communicating with me on a regular basis. After about eight hours, I asked what my uncle's status was and I honestly feel like he didn't start doing anything with my uncle's situation until I asked. All his tests had been taken almost as soon as he got in there at 8 in the morning, so all of the results were in long ago. I was never informed as to whether he was going to be admitted. Then at some point a nurse comes in and says what he's been admitted, the doctor still has not said anything to me about anything. I go to ask him if my uncle can be transferred to another hospital that partners with his primary care physician's office. He asked what hospital and I told him Trinity. He said he can't do it unless he talks to the primary care physician. It's Sunday and he's not on call so he wouldn't be available. I asked if he could call Trinity himself. He asked what his doctor's name at Trinity. I said he doesn't have a doctor at Trinity. He said, very rudely, you just said he did. And I said no I did not say he had a doctor at Trinity, I said his physician's office partners with Trinity and they don't partner with South Shore so they won't be able to come see him here. He said well he's not going to be able to transfer. Again very rudely. I said is there someone else I can talk to, he said you can talk to whoever you want to you can talk to the president of the United States if you want to. They're going to say the same thing. I said I want to talk to somebody besides you. And then he rudely told one of the nurses to come explain the situation to me. The nurse was helpful and tried to call Trinity to see if there could be a possible transfer. I called his physician to see if there was someone on call that may be able to handle a transfer. All of this is done by everybody except the doctor who is supposed to be there to help. In my almost 50 years of living, this is the worst experience I've had with a doctor in my life. He should not be practicing medicine anywhere.

I'm not exactly sure what his intended field of study was, but as a hormone replacement doctor, he could not be much more subpar. From his incompetent office staff (that sends me OTHER PEOPLES'S lab results via email by mistake), his last minute rate hikes for worse service, to his very, very basic interpretation of lab results. Now, 8 months later I am receiving bills from my insurance company because he (or his office "help") did not send them the required patient information for my claim to be processed. Save yourself $100/month (which is what legitimate HRT doctors charge) and many headaches by going to a real HRT practice and not this hot dog stand hack.
