Dr. Daniel Dean Schaper

I'm a very active 76 year old male. Over the last couple of years I have been having pain in my right hip after bike rides, running, etc. Finally, after it completely gave out while running, causing me to fall. I decided to have it looked at and I was referred to Dr. Schaper by my GP Dr. Dahl. I was able to book an appointment within a few days and was seen promptly by Dr. Schaper upon my arrival at 6675 Holmes, KC, MO. Dr. Schaper advised me that my X-ray showed no arthritis or joint issues. Conclusion, let's try a cortisone shot for bursitis. Since Dr. Schaper is also a biker, I appreciated his interest in getting me back on the bike.

The first time I met Dr. Schaper was after a fall in which I had broken both ankles. He is very kind, gentle, and attentive. He listened to my concerns, and followed up. Other staff would not listen when I told them that my ankles were not sprang, but broken instead. However when I explained to him that I had previously broken an ankle and knew what it felt like, he ordered a new set of X-rays which revealed that both ankles were broken, requiring surgery on one of them.

Dr. Schaper is an outstanding doctor. My joint replacement surgeries were excellent.

I have had two arthroscopic knee surgeries, one ankle analysis (post-MRI), and one shoulder analysis (post-MRI). The knee surgeries were explained to me in great detail and recommendations for PT afterwards were conducted. The ankle and shoulder problems were resolved through PT. This doctor is professional and shows a concern for every one of his patients (I saw Dr. Schaper based on the recommendation of a friend). He is excellent!

Dr. Schaper did an excellant job of diagnosing my condition and provided alternative treatments, conservative to surgical. Spent a good deal of time explaining my condition so I could understand it and was extremely accomodating to get it "fixed" quickly. He tailored his care to me specifically and was compassionate and understanding of my individual needs. I highly recommend him.
