Dr. Daniel Paul Shmorhun, MD

When my grandson was born, doctors detected what they believed was an innocent heart murmur. For years, it was simply monitored. Eventually, additional testing revealed that he had Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, and after a follow-up appointment, we were referred to Dr. Daniel Paul Shmorhun. Walking into that first appointment, we were terrified. We didn't really understand what WPW was, what it meant for our grandson, or what could be done. Of course, searching Google only made our fears worse. From the moment we met Dr. Shmorhun, he put us at ease. He was kind, patient, and took all the time we needed to explain exactly what was happening, why it was happening, and what our treatment options were. He never made us feel rushed, and he answered every question with compassion and confidence. On October 10, 2023, I sat in the hospital with my sister, brother-in-law, and two family friends as we watched my 6-year-old grandson be wheeled away for his procedure. We waited together… in the cafeteria, receiving updates by phone as everything progressed. During the procedure, they discovered that the extra electrical pathway wasn't where they had expected—it was in a much more treacherous location. Thanks to Dr. Shmorhun's expertise, he was able to successfully correct it without complications. We went home that same day, and the enormous weight I had carried for so long was finally lifted from my shoulders. Throughout this entire journey, what we experienced was kindness, thoughtfulness, thoroughness, and genuine understanding. Dr. Shmorhun recognized that families aren't just looking for answers—they're carrying fear and uncertainty. I remember telling him that I would rather endure one day of intense anxiety than years of constant worry, and because of him, that's exactly what our family was given. To me, Dr. Shmorhun is a hero. He gave my grandson the opportunity to grow up without the burden of WPW hanging over him, and he gave our family an incredible gift: peace of mind. I thank God every day that our paths crossed. We will be forever grateful.

I can't say enough about Dr. Shmorhun. He is caring, kind, and treats us as if we were his only patients. His bedside manner and sweet disposition have a calming effect in even the most stressful situations. He is well respected in his field and I fully entrust the care of my child to his capable hands.
