Dr. Daniel M Skotte, DO

It was my first time here. I booked my appointment through Google and Calendly, so I never saw his website or any instructions posted there. I originally booked for 2:30 p.m., but I was kindly asked to reschedule earlier. I adapted my schedule and moved my appt to 1 pm. When I shook hands with Dr. Skotte, the first thing he asked for was a printed MedXPress document. I told him I had my confirmation number, as required by the FAA. He immediately showed frustration that I did not bring a printed copy. I was confused because the only FAA instruction I received stated: “You will need to provide your confirmation number,” which has always been sufficient with every DPE I have worked with. He then told me it would cost an extra 20 dollars to print one page and later corrected himself to 25 dollars. I thought he was joking and asked for clarification, but he said the fee was stated on his website. Since I booked through an external link, I had never seen these instructions. He became… increasingly disrespectful, pressuring me to show him the instructions and getting upset when I showed him the FAA’s guidance. He continued accusing me of not following his website instructions, raising his voice, and lecturing me about not knowing how to follow simple instructions and even about the kind of pilot I must be. It was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. He also complained that I was making him late for his next patient while repeatedly pressing me to pay the fee. At this point, I chose to end the appointment. I need a medical examiner who shows basic respect and customer service skills. After leaving, I looked him up and found multiple complaints filed with the Oregon Medical Board, including a history of unprofessional conduct, negligence, and malpractice. His medical license was suspended in 2007 and was placed on a ten-year probation. Given his behavior, none of this was surprising.

Dr Skotte, and his staff were very attentive to my needs.

The staff and doctor were quick, friendly and very caring. I was immediately assessed, their lab give me results on the spot and I even bought my medication there. I was in and out with the greatest care and attention.

Dr Skotte is very personable and very knowledgeable but his staff always seems to busy to cross the t's and dot the i"s : example they recommend a myriad of blood tests for a normal physical but there is no followup. When you call they say "we only contact you if there is a reason to". In other words you do not get to see the results. Staff also do not bother to check coverage on medical coverage so if you are not in network; buyer beware.

I've seen Dr. Skotte twice, both times there was little to no wait and he was vary considerate and professional. His staff was easy to deal with, and I have had no trouble getting appointments.

Staff is often unprofessional and discourteous. Wait times in lobby can exceed 45 minutes even if you have an appt. Billing doesn't seem to be correct based on type of visit; more on doctor preference.

AFTER 4 VISITS I WAS TOLD HE DID NOT TAKE MY INSURANCE .. WHAT A SCAM .. SO THEN I HAD A BIG BILL.. I WOULD NOT TELL ANYBODY I KNOW TO GO TO HIM ..

Things I liked his location. Things I disliked was the bill I got for care a year after the care. The staff at his office changed and when I call or go there I am turned off. I was actually told to not bother his office when I called one day about a sore on my foot. Uneducated staff and poooor billing.
