Dr. Daniela Nicoleta Hangan, MD

My wife is a known hypertensive and chronic renal failure patient and we just chose Dr. Hangan as our PCP so my wife went to see her for dizziness and blurry vision. Her blood pressure was elevated by then but otherwise okay. Labs showed elevated creatinine which was not new to us and Dr. Hangan asked my wife to go to the emergency department urgently for hemodialysis but my wife thought it wasn't urgent so she came home. Dr. Hangan then scheduled another office visit for my wife (a few days after the first encounter) and this time I went to the appointment with my wife and our 2 little children (3yo and 1yo). In the office, Dr. Hangan asked my wife ,who has no symptoms and a well-controlled BP, to go to the ED for emergent dialysis. So I asked the her why the emergent dialysis and she didn't take my questions lightly at all. She lost her temper, became angry and told my wife "do it for your kids". She also said dialysis can restore my wife's kidney function completely, bla, bla, bla.… I took my wife to the ED where she was detained and I had to take our 2 little kids home. By the time I got home, 2 police officers were waiting for me behind my door, with guns, claiming that someone from Dr. Hangans office has called adult protective services that my wife's life is in danger so the police should come and intervene. They were asking me where is my wife?, were we quarreling in the doctors office? bla, bla, bla, and that they came to make sure my wife is safe. What??? I let the police know that Dr. Hangan asked us to go to the ED and that is what we did. My wife also called me to tell me the police came to interview her about me in the emergency department. During my encounter with the police, my 3yo daughter cried and cried and cried inconsolably because she thought they were going to harm me. My kids were traumatized. It is a shame how Dr. Hangan has treated my family. We trusted her but she betrayed us. She will no longer be our family doctor.

Very knowledgeable and caring.

Yes, her bedside manner isn't the best. however, she knows her crap, vets to the point. she does listen to concerns. But again, I sought them out for help. If this doctor helps me better my life, that is what matters. She is knowledgeable. No sugar coating, tells it how it is. I have had several back procedures.I could tell.she cares. ordered several labs, she wanted to get to the bottom of things and there may be other issues causing weight loss difficulty. highly recommended, but you need to be ready to work with her.

very carying and straight to the point was efficient in ordering the right tests and not wasted my money

She replaced my previous doctor. I went in to get treated for my diabetes. All she did was scream about pain medication and about how my previous doctor handled her patients. I was already very ill when I went in and she made me feel like trash.

Seemed cold and uncaring

Nothing seemed to be a medical issue as far as concern.. please note, that I Am in extremely poor health. Multiple surgeries, and have been seen and issues are documented on my file by surgeons, neuros, and physicians both locally and around the country. This doctor did not want me in her office and certainly couldn't have been more obvious! Don't waste your time. You would be better off talking to your pet. Believe me, you will at least see compassion and concern in your pet's eyes.
