Dr. Daniela Reid, MD

Dr. Reid is awesome. She's the best doctor my son has had in all the years that he has been at Lifewell. She is patient, thorough and realistic.

We took my 15 year old daughter to Rosewood Ranch and to Dr. Reid to be treated for trauma and suicidal feelings. However, Dr. Reid was unable to establish rapport with her and failed to treat her for trauma. Instead, Dr. Reid focused on treating her for eating disorders that had already been treated successfully by other psychologists and psychiatrists. Not surprisingly our insurance refused to keep paying for treatments that were unnecessary and Dr. Reid's solution was to simply dismiss my daughter, even though she desperately needed Trauma treatment that we subsequently found at another treatment center. We also discovered that Dr. Reid lacked integrity in her dealings both with our daughter and with us. Dr. Reid was out of touch with the psychologist and treatment team who worked with our daughter on a daily basis. While they e-mailed us telling us that our daughter was on high alert watch for potential self-harm, Dr. Reid seemed totally unaware and, in fact, tried to deny that… anyone at her institution had sent us an e-mail warning that our daughter was in danger of committing suicide. When presented with the E-mail evidence documenting the warning, she imperiously elected to simply disregard our concerns and treated us with disdain as she moved onto the next topic, like a Royal Highness dismissing one of her lowly servants. Apparently, Dr. Reid has a history of this type of autocratic behavior and one of the nurses at Rosewood warned us to never call her in the morning because she is not a morning person and would simply dismiss us. This is quite a difference from our daughter's current treatment center where we are encouraged to call almost anytime day or night if we feel there is an urgent need to talk with her counselors. One of the nurses at Rosewood also gave our daughter the wrong prescription medicines throwing her into a coma. In retrospect, my daughter feels that Dr. Reid and Rosewood made her condition worse rather than better and regrets having been her patient. Fortunately, we found psychologists and psychiatrists who are skilled in treating trauma and they managed to repair the mistrust my daughter felt as a result of her experience with Dr. Reid. My daughter has since made remarkable progress under the care of her new treatment team. Consequently, we would strongly recommend you select someone other than Dr. Reid and Rosewood if you have a teenage daughter who requires professional psychological counseling and guidance.

I began seeing Dr. Reid when she first began her practice, in Kankakee, IL. My father was diagnosed with throat cancer and, having already lost a 22nd year old brother to the scourge, and a fiance to Viet Name, I was "lost". Her sense of humor, incredible insight, and caring input put me back on the "side of light", and I have never forgotten that gift. I think of her often, and pray that she is continuing to bright healing to all who come to her for many years.
