Dr. Danielle Rott

I am a graduate student at SDSU and Dr. Rott is the psychiatrist on my campus. I am in an emotionally intensive graduate program where I am required to work through some of my traumas as part of my work towards becoming a competent multicultural counselor. I have been struggling with disruptive thoughts recently and went in to be assessed for depression and anxiety. I went in for an assessment with Dr. Rott and left feeling pathologized and dehumanized. Dr. Rott referred me out for long term treatment and she said "I was dealing with too much for them to provide short term treatment at the clinic at SDSU" I am 6 weeks out from the end of the semester and asked if I could start short term treatment to support me for the rest of the school year and then we can see what long term treatment looks like at the end of the school year. She must have been triggered because she responded in a defensive way and said that she is the doctor and she is determining what is best for me. What is… best for me in her opinion is to wait another 2 months for an appointment to be assessed by another psychiatrist so that I can start long term treatment. However, I need support now. I told her this was really unfair and she said thats just the way it is. We can't help you and she hung up on me. This was a traumatizing experience and would rate her beyond poor. She handled this in a terrible manner, feeding my depression and anxiety even more. I just need help to get through the semester right now. She refused to help me and instead made me feel like I am too sick to even be in this world.
