She completed a research fellowship, followed by residency in radiation oncology at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC). She spent 18 years as a radiation oncologist, researcher and academic leader in the UCSF HDFCCC system before becoming Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital in 2015.
