Dr. Dariush Saghafi, MD

Dr. Saghafi has long been my "go to" doc for questions about Neurology. He was the only Neurologist among many to accurately diagnose my fiancee with Dopa responsive dystonia when he was still living in Canada. He has since moved to the US and, while we have a local Neurologist who cares for him here, the gentleman is not at all knowledgeable about DRD. We recently experienced an unexpected event, the sudden loss of mobility in this otherwise healthy man who had been stable since Dr. Saghafi’s astute diagnosis and ensuing treatment. Unable to get answers for this regression, a timely appointment at the MAYO clinic , or even a return phone call from his Neurologist in Sioux Falls, SD, we decided to travel to Cleveland to see Dr, Saghafi in person. Within one week her had orchestrated a comprehensive evaluation including a second opinion consultation with a University Neurologist, and arranged for timely and minimally invasive surgery for what had become a critically unstable… situation. Had we waited longer or gone through the Mayo Clinic process , an option I explored but rejected due to delays and need for multiple trips , we would have lessened each day his chances for recovery of mobility. He is now recovering and in post acute rehabilitation where he is making progress every day. ?I cannot say enough about the comprehensive and caring approach as well as the immense knowledge base and application of clear and necessary caution before considering surgery demonstrate by this truly remarkable physician.

It's rare to find a doctor with such insight & pure perspective. How much it means to be treated with the care and kindness that he gives, so freely, with no preconceptions weighing him down. Transmitting positive energy to his patients, with open ears/mind, he generates a concerted synergy that casts light on the direction to take, and propels forward. I’ll always be grateful for the help that he’s given to our family, and for making such a difference in so many lives/ways.
