Dr. Darren George Alexander, MD

I am writing as someone who has high regards and respect for Doctors. However, I found Dr. Alexander’s attitude while treating my father, a heart patient, as patronizing and contentious. When it became clear that he was not going to treat my father’s severe symptoms-I tried to advocate for him. It was then that Dr. Alexander sanctimoniously began a dialogue about patients coming into the ER erroneously seeking sedative medicine. I hope to never repeat that experience again.

I was in the ER due to a BEE sting and he was condescending and I already had a plan of care by a specialist and he was trying to inject his out of line "care" that would of been harmful to my body he also said a drug I was taking for breathing failure I did not need.

I went to the ER after calling our insurance and speaking with the advice nurse. I have been dealing with neck and shoulder pain for awhile and like most working moms, I take care of myself came after taking care of my family. I do have an appoinment with a specialist in a few weeks, but the pain became unbearable over the weekend. I was going to wait to go to urgent care when they opened, but after speaking with the advice nurse, she suggested I head to the ER, since a hospital could order an MRI or CT Scan. When Dr. Alexander came in the room and started asking questions, he immediately changed his demeanor when I said I currently do not have a primary physician. He let me know the ER was not the place to come for my issue, and his words made feel like I had a drug problem and was only there for pain medication. Yes, I did want some relief after trying to get cope for three days, but I also thought I was going to have a test performed to see what was causing the pain. … But, that was not going to happen, he had the nurse give me a shot for the pain and informed he would write a prescription for pain medication, but only for a couple of days as I need to see a doctor. (I understand about him only prescribing a few pain pills with the current situation in the news about opioids but again, I was hoping for him to run a test to determine the cause of the pain.) He came back in the room after I had been given the shot where he continued to stress I needed to have a primary care doctor, (I don't disagree, but currently we do not have one) and said I needed to call the doctor on call and that I would be able to get in that day. Since he was being so pushy, I asked him if he knew this doctor. He said "no" and now he seemed uncomfortable that I was asking him questions. He left the room, the nurse returned with a prescription and asked me if I was feeling ok to leave. I said, "yes". My husband and I left thinking did that really happen? I askedmy husband "did I come off as person needing a high from painkillers?" We both shook our heads and he drove me home where I called the doctor on call. Guess what - I could not get a same day appointment. I was really feeling down after this visit until I read the other reviews and realized I am not the only person who had the same experience when treated by Dr. Alexander.

Smart and compassionate. Highly ethical. Top Notch for a very stressful medical specialty.

I presented to Dr. Alexander with a wound, paperwork on how to proceed and the direct # of the previous physician. He clearly disregarded my wishes on all aspects of the visit. When he was unable or not patient enough to numb the area he proceeded to make a large incision without ANY medication at all and despite my screaming for him to stop. When I informed him the small dose of pain medication he had given me was not adequate he acted like I was an addict looking for a hit. He then proceeded to discharge me while I was clearly in shock. I was shaking, sweating, my teeth were chattering uncontrollably. When my son informed the staff that I was unable to get to get in a wheelchair he was told that they had a large staff that as many of them as needed could come and "help" me into a wheelchair. Unfortunately I have been treated for this before so I know it can be done. The area can be numbed and the pain reasonably controlled. This doctor is a monster without a soul.

Dr. Alexander lacks all empathy for his patients and I recommend never seeing this doctor to save you the pain and prevent you from waisting your money. I have seen this doctor twice in the ER and both times have been the worst experience I've had within the medical field. The first time we saw him he began to search my purse without my permission or my husbands permission. My husband stopped him from looking through my purse. It was obvious from that point this doctor has no boundaries with his patients. During that visit he was rude and made me feel like I did something wrong. The second time I saw him he ask me inappropriate questions and again automatically put me and my husband on the defensive. He acted like we were there to simply dupe him and get drugs, nothing could be further from the truth. As our conversation continued he also began talking about his achievements as to impress us of what he has accomplished. I don't understand that behavior as we are in the… ER for a reason. In both visits I had had just had surgery and he treated us like we were a drug addict seeking to score our next fix. In both cases we told him what had occurred and I was having adverse affects to a general and gave him our physicians name. Even though he verified our story his still treated us without any empathy and made me feel like I had done something wrong. It seems like he was getting joy out of watching others in pain. While waiting for him we could hear him arguing with other patients and causing them more grief than being concerned with their health concerns. After our last visit we could clearly see their staff doesn't respect this doctor and this doctor doesn't respect his patients. I recommend that you avoid this doctor like the plague. Dr Alexander to put it simply is a narcissistic sadist that lacks all empathy for his patients and I can't understand why he's a doctor other to cause pain to people and get paid for it.

Completely condescending. Rude and doesn't seem to know what he's doing. Needs negative stars for bedside manner

Charged us $575 for a 5 minute visit. Refused to respond to letter sent to him asking for explanation of charges. Refuses to honor insurance adjustment.
