Darren Moffitt

I had a C&P exam carried out by Darren Moffitt at Optum Serve. Three DBQs - General Medical Gulf War, Back/Leg Neuropathy, and Migraines. He checked my reflexes and ROM in less than 30 seconds, never asked me a single question about Migraines, and refused to enter any meaningful notes. After 10-minutes, he said he was finished. As respectfully as I could, I questioned his thoroughness, asked him why he refused to review my medical records, and he told me I probably have a brain tumor and need to go see a doctor. He continually interrupted me, gaslit me, and questioned every statement I made - and when I eventually broke down in tears, he accused me of being uncooperative and asked me if I thought I was "being treated unfairly by the VA", and stated that he would "add that to my record" for me. He then went on talking about how HE is a veteran, and HE has 100% disability, but HE deserves it and "thinks it's funny" when people that don't rate benefits try to cheat the system. He's… a despicable human being. In the end - I submitted separate formal complaints to Optum Serve and the VA, and low and behold - Darren Moffitt no longer appears to work for Optum Serve... In fact, his LinkedIn page says he's "#lookingforwork". I was re-scheduled for a new exam with Optum Serve and I was very worried I would have the same experience. However, my new examiner did her job and did it very well, had excellent bedside manner, and was exceptionally thorough. I hope for the sake of our veterans that Darren Moffitt is never placed in a position to compromise their dignity.

In-person C&P exam for VA disability. Request any other examiner. Exam lasted maybe 8 minutes. Dr. Moffitt doesnt put in any notes of what you tell him and has incomplete DBQs. He also tells you he will not diagnose you and that you need to have a diagnosis and a nexus letter from your own private doctor. Which means the C&P exam with Dr. Moffitt is pointless. This exam was a waste of my time, I am going to request a new exam and if I get Optum Serve again, I will not let Dr. Moffitt be my examiner.
