EXCELLENT surgeon. FANTASTIC STAFF.

Dr. Hiyama did my colon surgery. I am old enough to have had multiple surgical experiences. Dr. Hiyama is not only a superb surgeon, which you expect, he is a uniquely humble patient oriented physician. Especially noteworthy was his availability for pre and post-op questions day or night. But he needs to change the photo here...a tad older now:). I highly recommend him.

First let me say I work in the hospital as a scrub nurse & I would not complain about my colleague, however Dr. Hiyama & staff were awful..... No follow up! & No help! after my surgery....I would NOT recommend him to anyone!I feel worse not better.... Trust me do your research before you let any surgeon operate on you....

Dr. Hiyama was recommended by my primary care physician, whom I respect greatly. That he is on the faculty of the UCLA Medical School and was praised by several acquaintances in the UCLA community increased my confidence in him. He performed a laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy for diverticulosis and recurring diverticulitis. The surgery went well and I received much post-operative attention from Dr. Hiyama and his residents. There was little abdominal pain following surgery and my hospital stay was one week. I will recommend Dr. Hiyama to anyone who needs an excellent abdominal surgeon.
