Dr. David Widiah Koury, MD

Dr Koury has a caring bedside manner. After going through numerous tests for 5 months, I was referred to Dr Koury; he immediately said I needed a MRI on my back….he found the answer, severe spinal stenosis. He would not let me leave his office without me giving him the name of a Surgeon he could submit a referral to. He said my case was the worst case of spinal stenosis he’d seen and I needed surgery asap. After having 2 spinal fusions in Nashville, he wanted to see me when I was able to get up and about. I’ve been seeing him these past 6 months since spinal fusion. I asked him to help me get an answer to right side flank pain that had been going on for 2 years 4 months, getting progressively worse. The liver and kidneys were already ruled out as the cause. He studied all my various tests through last couple years and ordered new right hip X-rays at different angles. Within 1 day, I was given an answer to my pain… asteitis pubis (inflammation between pubic bone and joint) . He also… ordered a MRI. He is very thorough, takes time to listen to your problems, & genuinely wants to help you lead a healthier life.

He was timely, listened to me, diagnosed me, and initiated proper treatment.

Saw him recently at his new location and I was there for about 2 hours if not more! The lobby wait wasn’t bad, about the normal amount at a Drs office, but after the nurse got done doing my vitals and other things that she did, the Dr. didn’t come in and see me for like 40 mins. I was his only patient at this time. Once he was in there he went over something’s with me but while he was doing so, he looked confused as well and when I asked a question it was like he didn’t understand what I was asking. So I just gave up so I could hurry up and leave. I’m glad Mayfield got a Neurologist, but I won’t be going back.

he is the worst ever im glad to hear that he is leaving everytime i go see him he wants to give me some kinda test like mri and take me off meds that are good for me also he stands there do not even look at you in the face why talking to you he looks at the ground

He is the worst doctor I've been to. Sadly, he is the only neurologist in Glasgow, KY. He doesn't listen to his patients at all. Won't take you off any medication that he has prescribed no matter how bad the side effects are. Stopped seeing patients in his office as soon as the covid-19 hit even though there were very few cases in the county for months afterward.

I went into this neurologist for keeping up in my meds for epilepsy Dr koury overwhelmed me with questions I couldn't even answer he acted like I don't know what a seizure is made me feel stupid and degraded this was my first visit being learning disabled would think be a bit more understanding . not so judgemental

Spent more time on his phone than listening to me. My pcp referred me because she believes I have Trigeminal Neuralgia and he didn’t even pay attention to what I was saying because he was on his phone. I repeated myself many times. His nurse came in and he went out to talk to her and came back in and asked me questions he already asked. He was definitely not focused on me. He didn’t do anything and told me to come back in 6 months. Not a chance.

I took my mother to him because her PCP suggested that she see a neurologist. He was on his cell phone 3 times, got several text messages and a nurse come in during the visit talking to him about updating his phone. I think his phone was more important than my mother was. I told him he was rude. I would no t suggest him to anyone.

First off reading other comments I have a pain mgmt provider so I don't need Dr Koury for prescriptions. I had a major grandmal seizure and had to be taken yo the ER. I was instructed by the ER to contact my Neuro doc the next day to make him aware of my seizure. During the seizure I fractured my back and have a neck injury. When I called the office the next morning I was informed he was slammed with patients and couldn't help me. That was almost 2 weeks ago and I have yet to get a call from him or his office. Instead my pcp took care of me and has given me the care that I needed. One would think there would be some concern here but obviously NOT

This doctor is excellent and does not waste time, chit-chatting. Gets to the point and answers any questions you have. Don't let his serious, quiet look deceive you. He's a hard worker and if you ask for something, you will get it usually. (not a big narcotic pusher...go to pain clinics if you need that) He's tried multiple remedies for my husband and "listens" to all his problems. Even answers my (the wife's) questions about him. The people who rated him one star are just angry because they probably have too much medication already from other doctors and he can't give more that will react against what they are taking. Just ask him whatever....he will answer. Great doctor. I like his seriousness.
