Dr. David Earnest Abrams, MD

Wow. Where do I begin. I hold the medical power of attorney for my parents and they have been patients of David Abrams for over 25 years and joined his Concierge plan when it began. My father, at 97, was ill on a Friday afternoon about 10 days ago. Abrams' exchange was not answering his office phone so our private caregiver called me for his cell number. Why was his exchange not answering? We don't know. Our private caregiver did speak with him on his cell. I was not on the call with Abrams, but our caregiver told me he seemed unconcerned and asked her what do you expect at his age. To shorten a long story, my father was taken by ambulance and admitted to a hospital where Abrams does not have privileges, but only a few miles from his office. We actually thought he would visit my father or, at the very least, contact his other patient, my mother. My father was in the hospital for TEN DAYS before being sent home with hospice care. But, no. NO VISITS, NO RETURNED PHONE CALLS. During this… time, messages were left for Abrams. None were returned. He's really good at taking your additional cash payments for non-existent additional services. Just don't expect to get your money's worth. His practice is worthless. Save the money and find a caring physician that takes your insurance. When the chips are down and it's a life or death situation, he's not available. Over the years, my parents have paid Abrams tens of thousands of dollars to have him by their side when needed. He should be ashamed.
