Dr. David Isaac Astrachan, MD

Got surgery for deviated septum and smoothed out the bridge on my nose caused by a prior injury. Dr.Astrachan was extremely professionally but also had great bedside manner and talked me through my concerns prior to the surgery. the execution was great, healed great... About 6 years later, still super satisfied

I was referred to Dr. Asrtracan by my primary care physician over 10 years ago for sinus issues. I had chronic sinusitis and a severly deviated septum. He initially performed a septoplasty and turbinate reduction which made my breathing so much better. He also referred me for a sleep study which diagnosed sleep apnea. Fast forward 8 years and I had severe inflammation of the sinuses. He also suggested a procedure known as a UPPP ( Google it!). I underwent an endoscopic surgery procedure to clean up the sinuses and the UPPP. It basically removs the uvula and excess tissue of the soft palate. I now can breath again and have not had an infection since. The biggest improvement was that I no longer have the blockage with caused the sleep apnea. Doctor Astracan was very attentive, has a great manner and is an outstanding surgeon. I had no complications and healed quickly. He is a very… busy guy and the lead time to get an appointment and the treatments are long but very much worth it !

Best ENT doctor! I had a hard time breathing for a long time. Had nasal surgery with him and I could breathe!! Great bedside manner, very thorough and caring. I highly recommend seeing him.

He seems to forget we are human beings....never in a good mood, rough, poor bedside manner, I don't go to a doctor to be criticise..

I was having unusual symptoms, he listened and actually came up with a solution. Currently in testing but I think he may have found out what the problem is. Very proactive. Bad thing is wait time for appointments. When something may be serious, you should not have to wait for next available, which usually is weeks apart.

I waited 1.5hours to be seen. I was in his office for ten minutes and his cell phone rang. He looked at his phone and said who is this. He did not know who it was so he answered it, told the person hold on and put his phone on the counter. He continued talking to me for 3 minutes breaking all HEPA laws by having his phone on the counter. He rushed through his conversation with me to get back to his phone . As I was walking out the door he picked up his phone and said to the person on the phone - sorry about that. You can't be a good doctor if you don't have compassion for your patients. I was just another insurance payment for him. He never called in the prescription for me . He was too busy being a typical American answering his cell phone. Not even a hey , I need to take this call.

Only good things to say about Dr. Astrachan, his staff, his facilities and the results of the sugery.

I would never bring your toddler there my daughter has a fear as it is with doctors and I made that very clear before he ever entered the room and he was not good at all with her he didn't even diognose her problem told me there's nothing he can do for her she's to difficult and we'll have to put her under anesthesia if I want to find out why she's in so much I still get aggravated when I discuss him with people.

I returned from a business trip abroad with what turned out to be a case of MRSA in my nose. Suspecting the serious nature of my complaint, as soon as I landed at JFK I called an ENT, whom I had previously seen, to ask for an appointment. "My" ENT was unavailable but Dr. Astrachan was able to fit me in the next morning. He was able to drain the abscess, he prescribed an obviously effective antibiotic regimen, he saw me again in 48 hours and a week later when I had fully recovered. It is my belief that, had it not been for Dr. Astrachan's immediacy of response and appropriate intervention, the clinical picture could easily have escalated to a much more severe issue requiring hospitalization (or worse). I found Dr. Astrachan approachable, friendly, informative and calm. I would recommend him highly to anyone who asks.

Excellent job. I wasted 6 months going back and forth to another ENT doctor. I tried Dr. Astrachan and he immediately diagnosed my problem. Four weeks later I was completely cured of my issue. Best decision I made was to change doctors and see Dr. Astrachan.
