Meet The Docs: Dr. David Bagdasarian
Dr. David Bagdasarian was born in Salem, Massachusetts, and grew
up in Peabody. He attended Catholic elementary school and graduated
from Saint John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, where he played ice
hockey and baseball. David then attended the University of New
Hampshire for three years and was fortunate enough to be accepted to
Georgetown University School of Dentistry, from which he graduated
cum laude in 1977. At Georgetown he was elected to membership in
Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a dental honor society, and received the
periodontal achievement award as well as a Mosby Book Award.
Following graduation, he was awarded a general practice residency
program at the United States Public Health Service Hospital in
Norfolk, Virginia. Following completion of this residency in 1978,
he was assigned to the outpatient clinic at Martins Point Portland,
Maine, where he served as chief dental officer for three years. He
left the USPHS with the rank of Lt. …Commander, and in 1981, Dr. Bagdasarian entered private dental practice with Robert Derice DMD,
at our current office in Portland, Maine, and a satellite office in
Freeport. His former partner has moved on, but Dr. Bagdasarian is
privileged to be in partnership with Dr. Denise Caron for 20 years,
and our newest partner, Dr. Shane Bryant.
Dr. Bagdasarian enjoys all aspects of clinical dentistry and
prides himself on delivering quality affordable care painlessly in a
comfortable environment. He believes humor is the best medicine
treats each patient as an individual deserving the best we have to
offer. His is best described as a family practice, as he does not
limit who he treats. In order to provide the best possible care to
his patients, he enlists and partners by referral, the skill of the
most capable dental specialists, for more advanced dental
procedures. The office is designed to provide modern dental
treatment in state of the are operatories with the use of the
professions’ best materials.

He serves as a
director of the Maine Delta Dental Plan, which is a premier provider
of the dental insurance, headquartered in Concord, New Hampshire.
David, a 20 year active member of the South Portland-Cape Elizabeth
Rotary Club, where he has served on the board of directors, draws
great personal satisfaction as a volunteer providing local community
service.
Dr. Bagdasarian is married and lives in Cape Elizabeth with his
wife, Fran, an interfaith chaplain and nurse, and has three grown
sons. He enjoys all sports and participates actively in ice hockey,
skiing, biking, and golf, and prides himself in maintaining his
physical health. His passion is dentistry and the relationships
developed from providing care and interacting with a diverse patient
population.
