Dr. David Lee Bavers, MD

He is very understanding and cares deeply about his patients. Takes the time needed to address your concerns/issues without rushing. He took over my care when my previous physician had to retire. He was very thorough in reviewing my records. He found some concerning labs which he wanted me to see a specialist. Not long after I ended up in the hospital and very serious condition. My daughter was told I would not live long and told us to call family. I was discharged home with other medical issues from the main medical condition. Dr. Bavers stayed up to date with my medical issues and helped us navigate through this. I have been fighting for my life for 5 years now and Dr Bavers has been there. Without his care and commitment I probably wouldn’t be here now. As it is I am no longer able to see him. I really miss him. Treasure your doctor as one day you are really going to need him.

Telehealth visit. Previous in person visit was canceled as the doctor was running over 1 hour and 30 minutes. The staff never came out to let patients know. That shows much the staff care about patients. So this time he was running late again and really didn’t want to be bothered about my issues and told me he was late and had to get to the next patient. Recently the nurses in the office are telling me if I need to be seen, I need to go somewhere else or ER/ urgent care. I have been a patient there almost 40 years and be treated like a nobody. Very disrespectful office from front desk, MA’s, Nurses and the doctor. I got very upset with their rudeness that I the patient was determined to be a bad patient. They are never wrong, watch out!!!

This is a doctor who is very committed and has compassion for his patients. He does not rush through your appointment, he takes the needed time to address your medical concerns. He explains medical issues so you understand. I have extensive medical problems and see different specialists. He keeps up with them so he knows what is happening. This is not easy when the specialist is at another hospital other than Trinity Health. He puts you at ease which makes it easy to talk with him. I truly appreciate him and know he has my best interest at heart. I trust him with all my medical care.

Dr. Bavers is the best doctor I have ever had. IN seventy four years on this planet I have never had a more competent or caring physician.

Dr. Bavers is the best and that is saying something because he had some big shoes to fill when he took over for my prior Primary. Unlike some doctors he is not dismissive. Instead, he listens carefully, welcomes questions and is a great communicator, including messaging through the patient portal. He is super sharp and extremely knowledgeable about medical conditions and proper treatment. He understands how drugs work and interact with each other and is great about sharing that knowledge. Recently I had symptoms of heart attack that I dismissed as GERD. He did an EKG which had serious irregularities and he referred me to cardiology with urgency. Based on a recent cholesterol panel, the cardiologist added a new medication. He also put an order in for a cardiac test. I balked, and so he said we could “wait and see.” I opted to take the wait and see approach. However, Dr. Bavers followed up to convince me to get the cardiac testing done. I still did not commit, but Dr.… Bavers would not let it go. I finally agreed to the test which revealed significant blockage. However, since the blockage didn’t quite meet the “parameter” for a stent, the cardiologist was content to wait another month and then do labs to see how the new medication was working. Six days after the cardiac test I began to have chest pain again and went to the ER. I was admitted and a cardiac catheterization revealed a 90% blockage in the right coronary artery. I now have a stent thanks to Dr. Bavers whose persistence very likely saved my life. Without the knowledge of the cardiac test my decision to go to the ER would have been different. My outcome would have likely been very different. I can’t say enough about Dr. Bavers advocacy and genuine concern for his patients. He is extremely busy and easily could have simply turned me over to cardiology and moved on. At that point he met his due diligence. However because he cares, he went above and beyond and took his own time to convince me to do what he knew was best. I am very grateful he is my doctor.

After my stroke & a video visit, he prescribed an anti-cholesterol medication (completely appropriate for my diagnosis) but failed to add on an anti-platelet as well to help prevent recurrence. So my pharmacist called the office that Friday (12.29.23) and wanted to know if there was a reason why it was not necessary to prescribe an anti-platelet at that time as many studies and guidelines recommend this immediately after a cerebral infarction to prevent another stroke from occurring. Recently, a study actually showed initiation with anti-platelets within 72 hours reduced the hazard by about 20%. My pharmacist was told that she would receive a call back that same day - that didn’t happen. So no additional therapy for the weekend and many unanswered questions and concerns. I had an appointment on the following Tuesday (1.2.24 - 5 days post infarction), I asked the receptionist to schedule me with my regular PCP & she said that Dr. Bavers is really good for this kind of follow up. Am I… suppose to argue over that fact? I suppose knowing what I experienced now, I definitely should have. During the appointment, I asked why he didn’t call my pharmacist back, he stated he never received a message (but there was a note in my chart!). During my appointment, Dr Bavers was typing and verbally dictating his notes while I was speaking, which honestly distances himself from the patient making him seem less concerned or interested in the encounter or for their feelings at that moment. While this may be the system he likes to use, it’s very off-putting and closes you off as a care provider to your patients. I felt like he didn’t care, especially because he seemed more interested in my prosthetic eye than anything else and let me know “it could use more depth” and insinuated that I did not clean it enough as the pupil seemed faded & stated it “looks scratched” (even though he was looking at it through my glasses). every aspect of this appointment was unnecessary and inappropriate.

Dr. Bavers is a very caring, kind, and understanding physician. He makes sure that you and him are on the “same page “ with understanding on your health care and medical issues. He is very pleasant and puts you at ease, such compassion when you can be overwhelmed with your chronic illnesses. Thank you Dr. Bavers for being there when truly needed. Also, wonderful nursing staff who are so supportive and helpful.

His communication style is a bit pretentious. Myocardioinfarction..,a frocking heart attack. It's funny on one end, but his vernacular makes him unrelatable.
