Dr. David Martin Berkun, MD

I would highly recommend Dr. Burkin to all new parents. He has a consummate knowledge on child rearing and has incredible bedside manner. We look forward to each visit as we walk away with far more knowledge than a book could ever teach us.

Dr. Berkun is an amazing pediatrician. He cares so much about his patients. We can always get a hold of him in emergencies and even just for advice when the baby has a fever. He prioritizes his patients and has even met us on weekends when his office is closed. He taught us so much about parenting and has given us the confidence we needed as first time parents. He always types up notes for us to take home so we can follow along with his directions and he spends a lot of time with the baby for each appointment. We never feel rushed.

Our journey with Dr. Berkun started with our prenatal appointment about a month before our daughter's due date; I highly recommend making a prenatal appointment with Dr. Berkun to get to know him and his approach to care. When our daughter was born, Dr. Berkun visited us each day during our hospital stay -- which was our first introduction to his attentive care and thoroughness with our infant. What makes Dr. Berkun especially unique is his approach to empowering parents and providing us the information we need to care for our child in between visits, but remains accessible in the event of an emergency. Dr. Berkun always thinks ahead, proactively anticipates questions a parent may have, and explains his thought process in a way that is approachable for parents. Our experience with Dr. Berkun and his staff has been exceptional.

We couldn't ask for anything more; Dr Berkun has been incredible to us and our son since the day our child was born in 2017. He's really thoughtful and knowledgable and takes the time to explain everything to us. We feel involved in the process and it's a learning experience for us every visit. Dr B is extremely kind and our son actually looks forward to his doctor visits!

Dr Berkun is incredibly thorough, patient, kind and helpful. He is as wonderful with our children as he is with us in educating us on our children's health. He is always going the extra mile and the type of doctor you simply don't think exists anymore - his personal care is unparalleled.

Dr. Berkun has taken care of my teenagers since they were born. I cannot recommend him enough. Dr. Berkun has, on several occasions, detected issues, one of which was very serious, when other doctors did not. When one of my kids was little, we brought them to an after hours walk-in clinic, and none of the doctors had any idea what was going on, but sure enough, Dr. Berkun knew right away what it was. And on a more serious occasion, Dr. Berkun detected a fairly rare problem in my other child and to this day, the specialist praised Dr. Berkun for picking up on it. He is incredibly thorough and detailed. Sometimes this means his appointments can run a little late, but in the grand scheme of my kids' health, it has been worth it.

Both of my children have been with Dr. Berkun since birth. He is extremely thorough, knowledgable, and compassionate. At times, my children have had some anxiety regarding shots and such, but he has always gone out of his way to keep them calm. He takes time to explain procedures and next steps and never makes you feel rushed. We are very pleased with his care and could not imagine our kids health in anyone else's hands!

Dr. Berkun has been my daughters pediatrician since before she was born (9+ years). When looking for a pediatrician, I interviewed many doctors and Dr. Berkun came highly recommended. Dr. Berkun showed up at the hospital when my daughter was born and has always been like family to us. Even under his mask, you can see his genuine smile and care for my daughter. He is respectful of me as a parent, explains everything with patience, knowledgeable in his field and is extremely thorough when doing any examination. Dr. Berkun takes his time with his patients, listens to my concerns and values my opinion as a parent. You are not rushed when you come to see him, “well visits” are at least an hour. He has always been available when I’ve needed him, even after hours! Dr. Berkun and his staff are wonderful- you and your child will be very happy with him as your pediatrician.

We've been with Dr. Berkun since our son was born almost a year ago and overall have been having a great experience. We like that he has weekend hours and he/his team are available via phone or e-mail if we have an off cycle question or concern. They've calmed us down that way more than once. We also like that his goal is to build our parenting instincts/skills and keep us out of the office/urgent care/ER for unnecessary visits. That's not always easy (I'm anxious), and if your personal tendency is high touch/high anxiety unless you've been directly seen he may not be for you. Finally, if you're a devotee of Emily Oster, you're going to get some contradictory advice from Dr. B. You'll need to be prepared to go your own way with your own resources and you can always use Dr. B as an anchor back to more traditional tactics that he's seen be successful over the years if/when needed. We really like him and wouldn't hesitate to recommend, but wanted to give some context on "fit" since… your pediatrician is in your life like no other doctor typically is!
