Dr. David Best, DDS, MD

Dr. Best was raised in Overland Park, Kansas. He attended Loyola University Chicago, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and competed on the NCAA Division 1 men’s golf team. He completed dental school, medical school, and oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He then completed fellowship training in pediatric cleft and craniomaxillofacial surgery at SUNY Buffalo and the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York. Following his training, Dr. Best worked in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia before moving to Boston to join the Department of Plastic and Oral Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Best is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABOMS). He is also a Specialty Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP).
In addition to my clinical practice, I am passionate about education and research. I have published numerous peer-reviewed …manuscripts and textbook chapters. For my research in oral lichen planus, I received the Daniel M. Laskin award for the most outstanding manuscript published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery that year.
