Dr. David Eric Carleton, MD

I became a patient of Dr.David Carleton last year.My insurance changed and I was in need of a new doctor.Dr.Carleton came highly recommended.found he to be charming,personable and very detailed.He took the time to explain things in detail and answered any questions I had.The only problem I had was that I talked ALL over him!Even then he was a pro!!!

I went to Dr. Carleton out of desperation. Although I had numerous spine surgeries I also suffered from severe fatigue, joint/muscle pain, memory issues, etc. I was on high dose narcotic meds that weren't touching the pain. I had been to another "highly recommended" rheumy at VCU as well as a local one. Both gave DX. of OA after a 5 min exam. Needless to say celebrex and meloxicam still didn't touch it. My PCP suggested 1 more go with a rheumy. It was easy to make the appt., the wait time was less than 10 min. I was shocked that he was interested and took the time to listen, ask questions & thoroughly examine me. He told me what he thought it could be, ordered labs and xrays and gave me a prescription AND explained what to (not) expect from the meds. All I have to say is thank God I took the time to go to him. After a year I'm 85% better, off the heavy pain meds and can do a lot of the things I used to do only because a Dr. took the time to do what all Doctors should do! I… highly recommend him!

Scheduling the appt was not difficult at all! Not from the area, as a matter of fact almost 75 miles from the location of their office. Left in plenty of time to get there EARLY, but got directions mixed up and ended up VERY lost. Called Dr. Carletons office 3 times to get help with directions and still trying to find them. NOT ONLY did the young lady that answered the phone all three times put me on hold, she never picked back up! On the 4th phone call....the attendant did not know how to tell me to get there, offered no assistance in getting directions for me, or honestly..even seemed to care. After driving for 1.5 hours, I arrived at the office 5 minutes after my scheduled appt. After I got in the office.. I heard the same voice I had heard earlier asking ME to hold tell her co-worker as she placed a call on hold "if you leave them on hold long enough, they will just hang up!" and laughed. NOT COOL!! Then I was told I had to reschedule as I was late....SOOOOOO lets add it… up:4.0 hrs away from work....$17.00 of fuel used.....No relief of the pain I am trying to see the doc for and what....to do it all again??Do YOU think I would reschedule??I THINK NOT!! SORRY :( The front office staff is in need of a complete overhaul!!I would not wish my experience on any patient, and will find it very hard to refer anyone as well.

This Doctor was totally focused on me the entire time I was in the examing room. He made & held eye ontact the entire time I was speking to him. This was my first visit to Dr. Caleton and liked him and his focus.
