Dr. David Holmes Chafey, MD

Dr. Chafey performed surgery on my husband who sustained a traumatic fracture to his humerus. He has been diligent and attentive to his needs through his recovery. The ease of reaching him via patient portal is reassuring, and through great communication during follow-up visits we are fully aware of what he needs to do to reach full recovery.

I had a Type 6 (comminuted) Tibial Plateau fracture at age 54. Dr. Chafey and his team at University of New Mexico Hospital repaired my leg with 2 plates, a handful of screws, and artificial bone matrix. A year later, I walk, run, and climb stairs with no pain. I attribute this first and foremost to excellent surgeons. Second - and no less - credit goes to the UNM Physical Therapy staff (especially Bernadette and Dominique) who helped me rehab the muscles after the bone healed. Thank you to all of the UNM medical team - Emergency Department, Nursing, Orthopedic Surgery, and Physical Therapy. You are fantastic!

After a head on motorcycle accident and two days in the hospital. Dr. David Chafey stepped in and preformed nothing short of a miracle procedure. He repaired my left humerus and many other trauma's due to this accident. My family and I are grateful that there are men like David to step in, take charge, and be of service to my community and myself. It is now 8 months later, I've had two surgeries and am doing better than i could have thought after those first few weeks. Dr. Chafey was honest and clear in what he could do for me and what I should expect through out my recovery. I still have some recovery road to go down, but with the UNM ortho team and physician's like David .........life is right as rain again. Im not much for reviews but in this case my words can not express my gratitude. My world is a better place knowing that men like David are in it. Thanks Thomas Crawley
