Excellent brain surgeon! Performed brain surgery on two of my loved ones and saved both of their lives. I highly recommend him.

Excellent surgeon. Saved my life

In the videos on Youtube, they forget to mention the part about afterwards leaving the patient to the wolves in the Stern Rehabilitation Center, completely unsupervised, resulting in multiple massive bedsores which result in the death of the patient. It doesn't even happen in third-world countries. It's negligent homicide. I have no doubt he's a great surgeon, but watch him carefully if it's a serious case; in my opinion his follow-up care can be poor and he tends to drop the ball without even realizing it's happening. The major problem is that there's no "self-correction" when there's a major error; he just continues on as if nothing has happened and doesn't adapt. All that glitters is not gold.

Through happenstance, my wife was taken to NSLIJ and entrusted to Dr. Chalif's care via Lennox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. I feel now that we were very fortunate that this happened even though, at the time, I was wondering why we had to go to Long Island to get her aneurism fixed. I was told he was the best and I trusted that he would be. Now, I wish I could say my wife's aneurism surgery went off without a hitch, but that's not the case. It's probably not realistic to say that such a delicate surgery could go off without any hiccups. She had three surgeries in all for the one aneurism and Dr. Chalif performed the first, most important one and though she did experience complications afterwards, the very delicate first surgery saved her life and she has been recovering very well.The original and two subsequent surgeries were without a doubt the scariest time of my life and Dr. Chalif and his staff did an excellent job of making me feel there was great hope that my wife would be… fine. I believe she will be fine. She's doing better every day.Can I say that everything was perfect? No. But can I say I think he did his best and that the end result saved her life? Absolutely. There is no question in my mind about that. I am so grateful that my wife - my son's mother, is alive and well.When they say, "it' isn't brain surgery". they mean it. It's a big deal and anyone who has a loved one going through it should understand how serious it is and what a complex and mysterious job these doctors have to perform.

The point I made earlier was valid; it is not valid to claim "our experience was good therefore no one else's could have been bad." Dr. Chalif knows full well that the reasons the financial and spiritual rewards of being a brain surgeon are so high are that they expectation level is ALSO very high. You don't expect a weightlifter to only lift 150 pounds. Yes, things go wrong sometimes, suck it up, yada yada but - If I could speak to him I would say,'Ya dropped the BALL, kid. And you DO know it. You and I BOTH know what went wrong both physiologically and administratively. And you know that it WAS preventable. DON'T lie to yourself about it, even if you can't at this time acknowledge it publically. It's not complex. FIX it first and THEN move on. THAT'S what good doctors do.And you're SUPPOSED to be THAT good.Rise up to that level by re-assessing the failure and trying to fix things so that this will never, ever happen again.If there was an administrative strain at that time in… terms of energy and manpower, then it should have been compensated for. Don't finger-point. Take responsibility and be honest with yourself. Sure you never fell off the horse but you and I both know what really happened."

Thanks to Dr. Chalif, my Mom is alive today. After she was written off in another hospital, Dr. Chalif operated on her for a brain aneurysm (grade 4 bleed)His surgery, team and care was superb! The attention she received was above and beyond. My family is ever so grateful.

Outstanding doctor- my daughter is alive because of Dr. Chalif and Dr. setton-from diagnosis to neurosurgery.. She was given the best care. The staff at NSUH was great!!!!!!!!! After 3 weeks in intensive care she came home and made a full recovery. Three years later,she still has follow ups with Dr. Chalif.We are so grateful!

Who ever wrote that negative comment about Dr. Chalif is absolutly wrong. He was there for me from the beginning to the end. I am alive because of him and recovered so amazingly because of Dr. Chalif. I can't express enough how so very gratful I being directed to the best Hospital on Long Island, the best surgeons, Dr. Setton as well, my consultation with Dr. Chalif, I had the best surgeon's on the planet. He and his team of Doctors at NSLIJ system in Manhasset, NY, who got me thru the hardest time of my life, will be forever in my heart. The care goes above and beyond. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. A brain aneurysm survivor.

My experience with Dr. Chalif is one I will never forget. He saved my life and I wish I can hug him every day of my life. He is an excellent Doctor and I am so very lucky to have had him as my surgeon. I would recommend anyone and everyone who needs this kind of surgery to him. What an amazing and smart man. I am forever grateful. His staff of doctors and nurses were also amazing. Thank God for Dr. David Chalif.
