Dr. David Chan, MD

I was recommended to Dr. Chan back in 2006 with my first occurrence of breast cancer. I was scared and feared the unknown. He explained the situation to me so I could understand it and let me know it was not a death sentence. Last year, unfortunately, I got my 2nd occurrence and did not want to see anybody but him. Again, he made me feel at ease with my diagnosis and was very thorough.

Dr Chan is very thorough in his explanations and he is very kind.

Dr Chan saved my life. My first visit with him I had a list of questions that he answered without my having to ask. He was very honest and upfront. I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma on June 6, 2022 and 7 months later on January 31, 2023 I was told I was Cancer Free.

Why not a 5 stars Why not more ? Of course, 22 years ago, Dr. Chan and Dr. Allen Rogers and Dr. Black, they gave me a new beginning with a purpose, so why not the highest review for a life renewed. With a new beginning, I now have an adult teen and i pass on all that i can give of life, everyday, i am thankful. Dr Chan is a great physician and a caring human being. I'm blessed to be under his care.

Dr. Chan is so nice and I know that he is passionate about his patients. There have been times where he has given me not-so-good news, and I was angry with him. He was empathetic towards my feelings and he did not take anything personally. I totally recommend Dr. Chan to anybody going through this terrible process. I know he made me feel at ease while i was going through chemo, and I appreciate him.

Dr Chan provides excellent care. He has a wonderful, comforting disposition and is both kind and efficient.

Having been a patient of both David Chan and Thomas Lowe (name not listed - wonder why????) I write STONGLY advise the choose of ANY MD NOT affiliated with this group now owned directely by Torrance Memorial. The doctors and the staff are rude, difficult with which to work, lacking in appropriate professional demeanor and care. They appear only to be interested in billing $$$. I personally know of several patients who have sort better quality care with other oncologists and I find that to be a wise idea.

Excellent clinician but needs work on people skills Can be VERY abrupt and short temperated by patient inquiries or new treatment options. If you do not ask for information he does not volunteer. I understand his field choice is a trying one, but his demeanor is well known in the medical community and it would be to his benefit if he could expand his services to include individual counseling on things such as nutrition, new meds, tests etc especially given his practice has full access to Torrance Memorial Hospital and the$$$ it has spent to by its own admission better serve its patient base. I do refer his team but go in with realistic personality expections. A warm, chatty he is not.

Dr. Chan saved my life when he pushed for radiaton and surgery for my colorectal cancer three years ago. He is not "warm and fuzzy" and I understand that. A doctor treating cancer patients would be emotionally drained by the end of the day if he let his emotions take over. Dr, Chan listens and is direct with the procedures and options. The waiting time can be long, but I don't mind. I believe the wait is worth while when the doctor spends a little extra time with the patients who are dealing with courageous decisions.
