Dr. David Gudipati Chandran, MD

Where do I start? I have since moved to India for fear of my life via vicious animals like this doctor educated somewhere near where I live today in India - in some third rate medical school where English is rarely spoken (Telugu is this "doctors" native language - something we share and a reason why we consulted him in the first place). My mother and wife took me to him as at the time in Ellicott City I was addicted to a drug commonly known as "spice" causing wild behavior that when I recollect I can't even believe myself the things I said and did. Nonetheless - on his interpretation of a call for help from either my mother or wife - he returned a call to my former house in Ellicott City threatening to have the police come to my place, put me in handcuffs and lock me up in a State institution - where he said (I can't forget his words) "you'll not have a pleasurable time". The doctor within minutes of our first consult - removed me from the medicines that may or may not have been… working for me and put me on all sorts of pills of which I doubt even he knew what and what not the side effects may come to be in my specific case. BTW Dr David consults for the State of Maryland processing criminals and the like - if you wish to be "handled" like a convicted felon - he is your man. FYI my father (late) was a consulting doctor at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in DC ( a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and author of the defacto textbook on CT/MRI - published by McGraw-Hill - used by medical residents studying this specialty in The States and internationally) and my mother is a retired doctor who worked for the State of Maryland. The reason my mother chose him is that he was a common "friend of a friend" in our local Telugu community.

He was always alternative taming my appointment. He insisted I take Lithium for my mood disorder. And told me he wanted to monitor my weight knowing I had an eating disorder. When I refused the Lithium, he started giving me samples of Letuda and then xanax. My second appointment was literally traumatic. He has told me I had gained too much weight and demanded I step on the scale or he wouldn't prescribe my medications. My husband became irate after seeing me cry as I held my infant child. He told Dr Chandran that he was being completely unacceptable and unprofessional and that he should apologize for the insults. Dr Chandran threatened to call the police on my husband just for speaking up for me. He is an insensitive arrogant "India trained" doctor. And he shouldnt practice in the mental health field.

A little abrupt and interrupts a lot, but he did seem to have a lot of compassion for me and didn't make me feel rushed.

Dr Chandran has been my doctor for over 3 years now he goes above and beyond his duty as a dr! He calls to check on me and makes his self available at a moments notice. He even answered my call while he was having dinner with his family. I know I am a work in progress but I know that he will get me where I need to be!!

Dr. Chandran is rarely on time for appointments. One time he double-booked with , seemingly, very little remorse. With the high price of oil, he should have reimbursed my daughter for her wasted time... and gasoline. He rather carelessly prescribed lithium, ignoring my daughter's well-established prior diagnosis of OCD. When she returned to college in the Fall, she had to find a psych. within her college's town. The new doctor immediately took her off of the lithium and put her back on a proper dose of an SRI. Clearly, Dr. Chandran thinks mood disorder medication is some type of trashbin fix-all.
