Dr. David Chou, MD

Dr. Chou took his time to ask questions about my circumstances and experience and discuss different options. I felt heard and never rushed, even when I had a lot of questions. He did a great job of explaining different medications and their mechanisms of action, potential benefits, and potential side effects and other considerations. Highly recommend!

After reading some negative reviews, I had to leave this comment as I had an extremely positive experience with Dr. Chou, especially after the atrocious care I received in South Bay. I'm very technical and like to know how my medication works. I had been self medicating while I was off insurance with caffeine and supplements, and I specifically asked for medical treatment to do what my self-treatment was doing, but better. Dr. Chou went out of his way to explain the science behind the medication he was prescribing, was non-judgemental of my efforts to maintain my mental health, and checked in to make sure everything was going well. He made adjustments, I had the best treatment plan I've had up to date. During my in-take call, he was patient and explained everything clearly. Best experience I've had with a psychiatrist. However, I did not talk about any intimate personal matters with Dr. Chou, as and Kaiser generally separates the two. If you are looking for medication management,… I highly recommend Dr. Chou.

Dr. David Chou lacks the baseline level of cognitive empathy to practice medicine. Whatever you do, avoid this negligent, sloppy doctor.

I’ve been corresponding via email w/ David Chou, MD, Chief of the Dept of Psychiatry for Kaiser Permanente in SF, for over a month in an attempt to obtain reasonable psychiatric care for myself. I went to him, as my own advocate, hoping for kindness, a modicum of human decency & help. Yet he’s shown me mostly contempt in conjunction w/ unacceptable care options. He’s created a tremendous amt of needless anxiety & stress for me, with no concrete care in sight for me in the foreseeable future.
